Hi everyone

I have been using OPKS since January I am not trying to conceive I use them as I had some issues with my Periods and cycle being quite long and all over the place so I wanted to ensure I was ovulating as I want a children in the near future.

My cycles are between 36-44 days and my lutel phase Has been 13-14 days since I started testing. On my 44 day cycles I ovulate on day 30.

I had a very strong Positive line on OPK on day 29 which the app put ovulation down as day 30. I am now two days late this has not happened since I started testing in January.

I did not have sex around ovulation but me and my partner had unprotected sex twice last week as I assume I was out of the fertile period and had already ovulated.

What are the odds of the OPK being wrong and me ovulating later in the cycle ? I can’t be pregnant from any earlier than last weeks sex so it is to soon to test

Thanks

OPK’s don’t tell you that you have ovulated, you would need to monitor basal body temperature to do that. Once you get a peak OPK it determines that you will likely ovulate in the next 12-48 hours, the egg will then survive for up to 24 hours waiting to be fertilised. Normally you would continue to monitor post peak and when it returns to high/low then you might have ovulated. So I would say ovulation could have occurred on day 29/30/31 potentially then another 24 hours fertile max. Using OPK’s isn’t particularly reliable for contraception so I suppose there is every chance you could be pregnant or could have been annovulatory which can cause a delay to your period amongst a myriad of other things. Give it a few days then test if no period.

@Haiyaa thanks I did think that as well from googling but as the tests had been pretty accurate up until now I assumed they were quite reliable.

I won’t be able to test until a week on Saturday as the sex was only this weekend just gone.
