Weird periods while TTC- anyone else??

Hi all,
Looking for some advice/reassurance. We've been TTC for about 5 months now and not been successful so far. Each month when my period has come I've had light cramps for about a week beforehand with some minor spotting then a longer period than normal with bleeding lasting up to a week and the odd bit of spotting even a day or two after this. I've also had more severe period pains than normal, particularly lower back pain.
We skipped TTC this month for various reasons and my period was back to normal this month, no cramps up until half an hour before bleeding, mild cramps throughout my period and a normal 4/5 day period.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's very annoying because having mild cramps before my period starts keeps making me think I might be pregnant! And the more severe period pains are horrible too!

Or is this something I should be concerned about? I've tried googling but haven't found much...

Thanks for any help!

Hi @Londoner5s - yes to a certain degree I experienced the same. I think it's partly because I'm more observant to everything that is happening within my body, and partly psychosomatic. But I'm also someone who will get stomach ache when stressed out, so that really doesn't help either ;)

Yes this happened to me. When I was in my mid 30s I started spotting for two days before each period and it really freaked me out. It think it's an age thing but nobody tells us that it's going to happen or even bother to acknowledge that it's a thing. I'm sure every male in the medical profession knows nothing about it or even what actually happens day to day with women's periods.

Then last month was my first month TTC and my period began about 4 days early, was intermittent, lighter than normal, and I didn't get the pains till day three which is crazy for me as I have always always had them day one when the full flow begins.

I don't know if this is the body responding to all the sperm!? Or if it was a chemical pregnancy and the egg just didn't attach. It's really hard to find out what happened but I'll wait to see what happens next month.

It's mad that women aren't told more or more research isn't done into this.
