Stories/outcomes of BFP and prolonged bleeding???

I am wondering what the outcome of bleeding for more than a couple of days was for others. I started bleeding and cramping last wednesday, not as heavy as period bleeding but enough to need a tampon. It has continued 7days now. On Sunday (5th day of bleeding) I took a pt to see if I was pregnant as I had other symptoms and it was a definite bfp.

I rang the EPU and they have said to take another test in two weeks. I am very early. probably 2-3 weeks. I am just wondering what to expect. The midwife seemed to suggest that it was likely a miscarriage.

Would I be foolish to hope for a good outcome?

Thanks @feliznavidad2 for your message! I would only be 4 weeks now I think. I am not sure though as this was only my second cycle as I am still breastfeeding DS1 12months on, so my period was slow to return. I only really had bad cramping one day (thursday 3rd of June) and it was the day before that the bleeding started (steady bright red flow, not as heavy as my period, lasted 8 days). I am not really concerned about ectopic as I think I would maybe still be in pain if that were the case? my symptoms only really started that day that I had the sore cramping and I feel like they would probably get stronger if I were still pregnant, I had strange taste and smell was starting to be affected, and nausea, and tired. I only really have a bit of nausea on waking now.

Thanks @RoseAndGeranium. I am really going on what I have read about cramping and bright red, prolonged bleeding-I don't think I can trust the tests at all- and going on my loss of symptoms, I just think it would be unwise to hope for anything now. Thankfully the bleeding stopped after 8 days, I only noticed some very tiny clots, nothing else. I am not sure there would be much else to see at this very early stage (probably 2-3 weeks when it happened) ?! And I only had cramping on the second day of bleeding, so thankfully no more of that. It would be nice to know either way, but I just have to be patient. I have read a lot of posts now about cramping and bleeding and it seems that for many it is ok as long as you only have one, but not both!

Thanks @Bundaberg84. How are you coping??

I can cope with waiting another week..I wish I could know now of course, but I have mostly given up hope, no point building my hopes up. I am going on holiday this weekend so the distraction will be good. I just wish the nausea would completely go so that I don't keep waking every morning and thinking to myself 'Am I?'!!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Tbh I think the fact you're still experiencing nausea on waking is a good sign, because for me that was the first thing that went, but of course it's different for every woman. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, and I hope you have a lovely holiday. x

@Providence6 trust your gut instinct. If you can wait for another week, that's fine. But just FYI; my ectopic was already 4cm and it didn't hurt, at all. Actually not many experience pain, only after it ruptured, but that's another story.
