CB ovulation sticks advice - empty circle straight to static?

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about the Clearblue digital ovulation sticks. The purple ones that detect the two hormones.

I’ve been using them the last 3 months and each time I’ve had a couple of days empty circles, and then it goes straight to a static smiley (which I’m glad for!)

But I’m curious as to what this means in terms of the hormones it detects. My knowledge only goes so far as to know it means I have a rapid LH surge, but what is missing that I don’t get the flashing smiley? What causes it to be a flashing smiley, would it usually be the estrogen? And as I don’t get flashing smileys, does that mean it’s not detecting much estrogen?

It’s more of a science question then anything really! Just curious as to how it works! Thank you x

I had that with CB tests. I found that in the morning it would be empty then static by the afternoon. It really stressed me out as I wasn't always able to test more than once a day. I changed to easy@home and it's so much better as you can see a gradual change meaning I am more likely to see the surge coming.

Not sure about the estrogen bit but I know i didn't always get flashing ones. Haven't really looked into that. I didn't notice that 3rd part of the test really show anything that made any change
