First cycle post depo? Advice needed

Hi all,

Have posted previously about ttc post depo-provera. I was last due the injection in April but of course didn't have it. Nothing happened in May but for the last three days I have had a lot of cramping and TMI but also had dark brown discharge, more each day. It's like what I would have before/after a period however apart from a tiny amount of red blood once when I wiped on the second day, there's been no actual blood so far.

I was just wondering if I can count this as a period and as my first cycle post depo or whether I'm getting too excited and it doesn't actually count due to there being no new blood iyswim. So so so excited to start ttc and have already started 'trying' as in no preventions but I know chances are very slim it'll happen any time soon. I have ordered a boat load of opks so will start testing once they arrive just in case of a miracle!

Any advice would be truly appreciated, can't believe I'm already driving myself mad over ttc when I can't really start yet anyway due to the lack of cycles!

Do a pregnancy test. The first time I came off depo my periods never reappeared because I got pregnant the first time I ovulated! And that was 7 weeks after my jab ran out.

@PotteringAlong oh my goodness, your reply has just filled me with excitement and made me want to drink a gallon of water to do a test 🤣 I'm so happy to hear of such a quick bfp post depo, there may be hope yet! Will test first thing in the morning but must remember to not get my hopes up. There really is quite a lot of the brown discharge which may not be a good sign if I was pregnant. Had depo without realising the impact on fertility and have regretted my choice so much as really wanted to seriously start ttc this month.

@hopefulmamaofone I never had a problem with depo - I went back on it in between all of my children and I still had 3 children in 5 years!

After my last injection, It took 7 weeks to conceive number 1, 13 months for number 2 (but I was breastfeeding for a lot of that and it was only 7 months after my periods returned) and 6 months for number 3.

It’s not dire straits for fertility for everyone!

@PotteringAlong that's such a relief to hear! I'm really hoping I'll be just as lucky. Tested this morning but a definite negative. Would you count the brown discharge as a period? It's relatively heavy but no fresh blood. Sorry for tmi just trying to track my cycles using flo and no idea if I can count this! I conceived DD on my first cycle after coming off the pill so think I've put all my hopes on another quick conception which is silly.
