Covid vacine affecting seamen analysis

Hello

Has anyone's partner had the covid vaccine then a seamen analysis? Were the results worse?

I have read on here (can't rmeber the threads) people's partners having the covid vacine then going to a repeat seamen analysis and the results are worse!

My partner had his first vacine 4 days before a repeat sample for analysis, just had the results back the the motility is worse than before.

Preciously the motility was
Progressive: 65%
Non progressive: 2%
Immobile 31%

New results are
Progressive: 25%
Non progressive: 0%
Immobile 75%!!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything we can do to increase the motility?
Concentration has improved

Watching with interest

BTW it's 'semen' not 'seamen'

justanotherneighinparadise · 03/06/2021 11:42

That’s a bit scary!

Helpagirloutplz · 03/06/2021 11:48

@Palavah blame my phones autocorrect!

@justanotherneighinparadise I know 😩😩

Should be Immotile not Immobile

If the vaccine caused a temperature spike that could explain it. Sperm don't like the heat!

whatswithtodaytoday · 03/06/2021 11:51

It could just be the immune response causing the difference, and it will sort itself out in time. If he had a fever especially.

Helpagirloutplz · 03/06/2021 11:58

@eurochick @whatswithtodaytoday I cant remember if he had a temperature but he definitely felt unwell

We are going to get another sample done in 3 -4 months time so hoping this is just a blip.

Oh noooo! My partners previous results (8 weeks ago!!) Were 'unable to analyse' (literally that, no comments at all about volume, motility, nothing. We think they dropped the pot 🤣) so weve waited a looong time for his next appt mid June, hes due for his vax on Friday. Keeping a keen eye on this thread! X

We have been unsuccessfully TTC since partner had his vaccine in January. Previously conceived with no problems each time in first month of trying. Most likely no link but watching with interest

TakeYourFinalPosition · 03/06/2021 12:09

My husband had his first jab two weeks before we conceived - I had mine at the same time. We both had temperatures and were in bed with flu-type symptoms for two days or so, and then I had a rash for a bit.

Just incase anyone wants some hope!

Helpagirloutplz · 04/06/2021 09:36

@beckyCarlos oh gosh really?! How frustrating for you! I hope the next sample they ate able to analyse and all is OK!

Yeah, we're laughing about it because its the only thing we can do 😊 the nurse said not to google it becuase it'd only make us worry, but we did and we couldnt find anything about it (its all to do with the usual motility, volume etc, nothing about just "out of range for analysis"🤣) so we do think they just messed up.

He's off for his vax today so we'll see how things go! I'm coming up to ovulation so will hopefully have done enough BD before any vaccine effects can take place (if there are any lol) x

Hey, just realised I hadnt posted back on here...my husbands second sample was also attrocious. We managed to get the results from sample 1 as well (despite being told there were none, he got a print out from the receptionist at the GP when he picked sample 2 results up) which ironically were only a bit below average in all areas apart from count which was a bit more on the low sideml.

I cant quite remember what they were but motility was WELL down, actually sperm count was WELL down too, and no idea about morphology becuase they had to use the centrifuge which makes morphology analysis impossible.

Ive read (google 🙈) that fevers etc can affect sperm so given the timing of his vaccine and then the test and how ill he was after his vax, I'd say it was quite likely that this affected his results. Will let you know if our consultant either asks or says anthing about this at our next appointment (needless to say, still not pregnant, and hes just had his second vax so not likely to be any time soon 🤣) x
