Smear test when ttc

I'm having my smear on what will be cd9, online seems to suggest no dtd 24-48hours either side. That's annoyingly the start of my fertile window! Just wondering how others have managed it?

I think it's just in case you're spotting/bleeding for infection risk reasons? I'd just go ahead - you'd be fine I'm sure. They tend to err on the safe side of things just in case.

For reference when I had an HSG done everything online says to wait 24-48h as well but my doctor was like nah, you can DTD as soon as you leave this clinic!

I had mine in January, I'm pretty sure I didn't wait the 48 hours as wasn't even aware of that 🙈

Just checked my app! 8th was smear and DTD the 9th and no issues and a clear smear wooo xx

Pretty sure i had mine and then conceived the next day haha all is fine so far so maybe it'll bring you luck too!

I had my smear on CD8 and DTD the next night (we're also TTC). Didn't realise you weren't supposed to!

I would get your smear as you can’t when pregnant and then 6 months after birth so that could delay your sneak by 15 months.

Principessa2070 · 03/06/2021 13:12

It's actually 8 to12 weeks as I had my DD in February 2018 and had a smear test in April.

@Principessa2070

My GP surgery in Bristol said to wait 6 months

Hi! I conceived my first child the week before my first ever smear test.. I didnt know i was pregnant at the time obviously but told the nurse we were TTC and she has no issues doing the test anyway. Test came back clear and i got a positive pregnancy test the same cycle! I'm now 19 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl 💕
Just be honest with your nurse, she'll probably ask you if there's any chance of pregnancy and I said yes there is 😊

toadstool32 · 03/06/2021 14:09

Thanks at cd9 they'll be defo no chance of a pregnancy!

Not the exact question you are asking I know, but we are planning to TTC very shortly, which coincided with my smear test. I decided to wait until I had the smear results anyhow (2 weeks later), just in the small chance that an abnormality was found and I was already pregnant.
