dutchessmom · 17/06/2021 07:49

Hi all!

@Marvellouslymadmum and @Geriatric1234 My gp after some tests suggested to us, to go to a fertility specialist for further investigation and to help us understand and exlore the options we have. DH is okay with it, started asking questions, getting recommendations etc. He is actually more than okay...he seems excited / energized, ready to go, and I just look at him and wonder WHY? Anyways sorry, I guess I kinda needed to vent a little 🙄

@sabtom Take the test! Like Geriatric said, you already have a plan if BFN.

sabtom · 17/06/2021 09:51

I peed on a stick 😳 I didn't even have to wait, line came up straight away.

Lastyearttc · 17/06/2021 11:08

@sabtom this is amazing news!!! Yay!!!

sabtom · 17/06/2021 11:18

Thank you all! I'm still in shock, I guess I'll have to tell the IVF nurse this after we don't need treatment..... yet. I'm still not getting too excited yet. I've only had 2 lines on a stick once before and it ended in miscarriage. I don't think I'll truly relax into I have a baby in my arms. Thanks I'm sending good vibes to all xx

sabtom · 17/06/2021 12:24

So if anyone is wondering what I did differently: this month I took soy Isoflavones. Like I said I think they brought my ovulation forward, so I was worried I might not have given chance for the released egg to mature. I've also started acupuncture and I've had 6 sessions so far. I'm also taking lots of supplements and vitamins and I upped the Ubiquinol to 600mg about 6 months ago and then brought it down to 400mg a couple of months ago (very expensive!) Got my OH on preconception tablets for the past 6 months too, although I couldn't get him to cut down on his drinking and cigarettes 🙄. Anyway who knows if it was the acupuncture, the supplements or Isoflavones or just a coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks

Mickymackyboobaaboo · 17/06/2021 13:12

Congratulations @sabtom that's great news! I've taken soy isoflavones before but found they delayed my ovulation. I've been having acupuncture for the last year but after seeing your ubiquinol dosage I'm thinking I need to up mine! I'm only on 200mg. As you say, it's so expensive (though considerably cheaper than IVF 😂)

Congrats again on your BFP!

Marvellouslymadmum · 17/06/2021 13:50

@sabtom woohoo that's an amazing line congratulations 🎉

Mum2baby07 · 17/06/2021 14:11

@sabtom wonderful news!

Catconfusion · 17/06/2021 17:32

Oh wow @sabtom that’s fantastic news, congratulations. Wishing you the best for the next 9 months. Xx

Mum2baby07 · 17/06/2021 21:57

Random question but anyone have any experiences with agnus castus? The box states don’t take if TTC but I’ve read it improves fertility in some? I’d love to hear if anyone has tried it and had any success with it?

Catconfusion · 18/06/2021 06:52

@Mum2baby07 I’ve had irregular cycles my whole life so I’ve taken it on and off. It can be really affective for ladies with anovulatory problems such as pcos. When I was younger I took it to regulate my cycles with some success. I tried it more recently and it messed my cycle up more. It probably was just my body getting used to it but I felt I didn’t have a few cycles to wait and see at my age. I don’t think it’s recommended if you have regular cycles and shouldn’t be taken past ovulation. Hope that helps. Xx

Congratulations @sabtom !

Mattieandmummy · 18/06/2021 20:06

Just catching up here too!!! Bam way to go @sabtom!! I love a just in the nick of time before ivf story!

Have been off Mumsnet the last few days as feeling a bit blue about not bloody ovulating properly (still) after stopping bfing but hoping this is the month - ovulation has moved back to day 16 this month which it used to be - I think.... I'm one of those annoying people who has always conceived first time of trying before so I've never actually done the whole OPK and temping before this year. Probably why I'm so down about it even though I know (hope) most likely it was bfing that's been the problem. And I actually had ewcm this month - first lot since before having my daughter so am really really really hoping my cycle has sorted itself out now. Ovaries feel like they're vibrating tonight.... Is that a good sign, bad sign.... Means nothing?

I'm on 600mg a day of ubiquinol too, hoping it does the trick. Plus vitamin c, vitamin e, spirulina, pre-conception vitamins, vitamin d, iron ... Probably forgotten one. Considering evening primrose and grapefruit juice to next ovulation for next month. 🤔 No caffeine or alcohol.... Definitely feeling a bit desperate.

Mattieandmummy · 18/06/2021 20:09

Just looked again @sabtom, that's such a good strong line! Twins.....🤔?

sabtom · 18/06/2021 20:20

Thank you @birdbybird and @Mattieandmummy it sounds like you're on the same supplements I was except spirulina, I don't know what that is. I was also on b6 complex and my acupuncturist recommended pomegranate juice everyday too. Just a small glass of it, which is enough as 100% pomegranate juice is very sweet and tart 😑 lol. Yes, so happy we've saved the money from IVF, however, not gunna spend it yet, might still need it!

Not much to update really, told my GP but there's no point going for a scan till at least 6weeks. Been having a few cramps, but more like pulling cramps, hopefully that settles down. Feeling quite tired and I get out of breath easier, but that might be because I've not been keeping up with my workouts for the past few weeks ☺️ Anyway, just trying not to get to anxious, if it's not meant to be then so be it, but I really hope I don't go through another miscarriage. Sending baby dust to you all xx Thanks

sabtom · 18/06/2021 20:22

@Mattieandmummy twins?! 😧 Oh dear, that would be lovely but I'm a little scared by that prospect lol

sabtom · 18/06/2021 20:26

Thank you too @October1979 😊 how are things goings for you? I remember reading you got your AMH results back and they were low? Mine results were considered very low and I got my BFP, don't lose hope Thanks

Mum2baby07 · 19/06/2021 07:55

@Catconfusion thanks for the advice. I do have regular cycles but ovulate early so it was suggested I do that to try to lengthen my follicular was jade in the hope it improves my egg quality but as I’ve been taking a spoonful of maca daily too I’m worried about messing up my cycle too much so I may stop. I’ve not had a period yet since my MC as it went on for so long I’ve no idea what my body is doing or where I am in my cycle and feel I don’t have time to waste. It’s making me so anxious!!

@Mattieandmummy I’ve been off caffeine and alcohol since I fell unexpectedly preggers (sadly mc) and it started my whole TTC journey off. Decided no point resuming only to hopefully have to stop again. Never really been a lager fan before my becks blue has been my new friend on the recent hot summer weekend evenings we’ve had lol! Less calories too than alcohol I discovered so bonus haha! Must admit I don’t miss the caffeine at all but boy did I get a killer withdrawal migraine when I went cold Turkey the first time! I’m on lots of vitamins too - I rattle when I walk lol! What’s grapefruit juice supposed to help with? Not heard that one?

@sabtom I know it’s easy to say and not do but try to relax and enjoy it. Even though I miscarried I’d do it all again like you as it only takes one good egg! Really hoping this is yours! Xx

Catconfusion · 19/06/2021 10:23

@Mum2baby07 I’m so sorry to hear your cycles are messed up. It’s so frustrating. Maca really messed me up. I ovulated day 36 and then had an early miscarriage on that cycle. I think it can take a few cycles to have good effects. I think if I was you I’d be tempted to strip supplements right down to a good quality pre conception and maybe omega 3. I don’t think ubiquinol would affect things so that would be ok. Things like maca and Angus castus can have really powerful effects and it’s not necessarily good at first.

I found the Mediterranean diet really helped my cycles. Lots of oily fish, low carb, nuts and seeds. I have flax with berries, oats and full fat Greek yoghurt every day. I have to say it’s tough sticking to it but when I did I got my ovulation down from day 36 to day 16. I still had another early miscarriage but it felt like my body was doing better.

It’s so hard at our age not having time on our side. I hope things improve soon for you xx

@sabtom we’re all hoping this is it for you. It’s so hard to be positive after loss. When I was pregnant with ds I didn’t enjoy it until I was 26 weeks and even then didn’t believe it was happening until I held him. I’d had two losses and pregnancy had be ruined for me by that. Just remember every pregnancy is different. There is every chance this time is different. It won’t be long before you can have a scan and will know more. Today you are pregnant. Take any joy you can from the process so when you look back there are happy memories as well as the anxious ones. Xx
