TTC with long cycles?

Hi all, I have PCOS and came off the pill in January after 12 years on it. Since then I have had two complete cycles, one of 55 days and then more recently 51 days. I ovulated both cycles (temping). I’m now 31 days into this cycle and despite EWCM etc I’ve not ovulated yet, so going to be another long one. I want to start TTC on my next cycle but I’m worried about whether there are risks to TTC with long cycles. I read something about eggs potentially being low quality - should I be avoiding TTC and try and shorten my cycle first? Has anyone had a BFP despite long cycles? Thanks in advance!

Hello! From what I gather the only problem you'll face is not really knowing when you ovulate and therefore be at risk of missing it. It's also good that you're temping as with just OPKs you run the risk of false positives with PCOS.

I'd be far more concerned if you ovulated too early or had a super short LP rather than ovulating later in the cycle. I don't think there's anything to worry about egg quality wise and wish you the best of luck!

Thank you so much for your reply, that’s good to know. I’ve had a normal 12-14 day luteal phase so hopefully that’s a good sign! Annoying I’ll have less ‘chances’ so to speak because I’ll have to wait so long between cycles but perhaps they’ll get shorter as I’ve been off the pill for longer.
