When to DTD...

When would you recommend DTD to increase your chance of falling pregnant? Is it best a few days before ovulation and on the day? I currently use an app called Flo and it is highly accurate with my AF date - it comes exactly when stated.

Also, with ovulation test strips, when do you do these?

Thanks Smile

Hey @babyboybluex my apps are very accurate as well, but there is no way they can predict your ovulation date. They use a standard 14 day luteal phase which might or might not be accurate. Therefore I'd recommend to start DTD as early as 5 days prior to your calculated ov date and two more, so you should be on the safe side.

The cycle on which i got pregnant we just DTD five days straight. But usually they say every other day in the week leading up to ovulation. If you have a heart rate tracker you should be able to see ovulation and your fertile period on it as well on it. My HR would go up during the fertile period then spiked post ovulation every month.

@Bundaberg84 I thought that may have been the case! Thank you for your advice, I will be on it in 3 days time haha.

Hope you are well Smile

I used the Flo App and DTD day 9 and 10 of cycle, then days 13-16. Used clearblue ovulation test which indicated my peak was on day 14. It worked because I got my BFP yesterday Smile

@Wheresriri Thank you so much! That's really useful to know. Congratulations on your BFP!!

@Trinacham Wow that's lovely news, congratulations!! Would you recommend the ovulation tests? Was this your first try? Flowers

Thank you! Tbh I only ended up using 1 Clearblue test as the day I used the first stick, it said I was at the peak, so didn't need to use anymore, but glad I used it that day as we may have been more relaxed and not tried so much over those days. Yes first time, was not expecting that Smile

@Trinacham How amazing - I am so happy for you. Wishing you a healthy and easy pregnancy Smile

What day did you take the Clearblue test? Was it around day 9/10?

I use the femometer ovulation strops alongside their app. Really helpful calendar feature where they tell you when to DTD, when LH is high a few days before ovulation and when it peaks at ovulation.

babyboybluex · 25/05/2021 12:33

@somersault That sounds interesting and highly useful. Where can you get these strips? Thank you for sharing!

@babyboybluex they're cheap as chips on amazon :)

They all come with instructions on when to start using them (it's based on your cycle length) and how to. Second morning wee tends to be best!
