How soon to test

I'm new to TTC and desperate to test! Dtd last Saturday which was the day before/same day I ovulated. How soon can I do a test? I know it would be a faint line but could it show up already or do I need to be more patient?

Wait until a missed period

What day did you get a peak ovulation test?

00100001 · 22/05/2021 17:40

Try and remember itcan take month s and even years to fall pregnant. So try and avoid testing so soon

superlyduperly · 22/05/2021 17:42

I haven't done an ovulation test but I have very obvious symptoms and a regular cycle.

I got my BFP at 9DPO on a FRER but I know when I ovulated as I used CB Digital OPKs. Most don't get a positive until 12DPO but you have to accept that a positive before a missed period can easily turn into a negative again before AF arrives.

It is best to wait until AF is late but if you can't (I get it), use a FRER with FMU no sooner than 9/10dpo x

Took me til 12dpo to get a positive even on FRER. I tested every day from 8dpo... Blush

Thanks guys I'm only 7 DPO, took a test and unsurprisingly negative. Will leave it a while now or I'll end up getting obsessive with it.

This doesn't always mean regular ovulation. I have a very regular cycle and obvious symptoms - I can still ovulate anywhere from day 12 to 17

Wait until a missed period
This.

@PinkPurpleParade you're giving me hope! This is my first cycle TTC #2 and I'm 11DPO. Been testing since 8DPO too 🙈 using ICs but did a FRER yesterday at 10DPO and it was a cold, hard BFN!

I have 1 FRER left which I'll use tomorrow 🤞🏼 x

There's no shame in testing early, if you want to. I'd rather prepare for not being pregnant by having a series of bfns from 9dpo than save up hope for another 5 days and then be disappointed by getting my period. It's personal choice. And also, even if I got a positive and then had a chemical, I'd like to know in case it becomes a recurrent thing.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 22/05/2021 20:19

Definitely wait until a missed period. There's nothing worse then line eyes and having to hold a test in as many ways possible because you think you've seen a line but really it's just a shadow. Plus from previous experience. Chemical pregnancy isn't great!

00100001 · 22/05/2021 20:45

Line eyes and symptom spotting can become a mini obsession. And days can feel like weeks when you're waiting.

Please try to wait until a missed period.
Please try and think about it as a year long journey, rather than a weeks long.
Once you start looking into it all, you will wonder how people actually get pregnant!
