Husband decides when I can test

This is a lighthearted agreement and of course I can test whenever I like, but month 2 of TTC baby #3 and my husband said last month I took two many tests/tested too early (I took two cheap asda ones and then Af came). He said I am always convinced I am pregnant but most of the time I am actually not.

So we agreed (suggested by me first and he was more enthusiastic than me) that I could only test from now on, when he decides!!

Halfway through 2ww (not that he has any idea what that is) and I am wondering when he will suggest I take a test... If I am pregnant, I am imagining it will be in several weeks when I start being sick in the morning and going to bed at 8pm.

So... Anyone else putting off testing for as long as they can bear?

Crikey OP fuck that for a game of soldiers. Test whenever the hell you like.

ChikiTIKI · 20/05/2021 22:06

Haha I will, but I think this might be fun!

Hahaha I thought the exact same. I would definitely be sneaking tests all the time 😂😂😂
ChikiTIKI · 20/05/2021 22:07

OK well I'm obviously not 100% convinced it will be fun otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted this would I 😅

Very weird. What's the point of your post even?

PacifyLulu · 20/05/2021 22:21

OP you might be better getting this removed and just posting about waiting to test rather than. I being you husband’s decision. I think a lot of posters will have concerns that you’re being controlled and that will dominate the answers.

@ChikiTIKI i told my husband to not ‘let me’ test until my af is due and i told him that it was due this Monday. Last night i goes im gonna do a test (after crying when my boss let me go home 20mins early - what the hell?!😂) and he said noo remember you told me to tell you not to so i didnt and i feel so much better. Im about 10-12dpo and have already used 3 pregnancy tests early on and repeatedly kept breaking my own heart with bfn. Going forward i am telling him when af is due and to not let me but or do tests until at the earliest, 2 days before af is due! Its what works for you but maybe tell him to tell you when if that makes sense? Im only on first cycle of ttc#1 and for my own mental health it helps so much telling hubby i cant test until this day etc xx

ChikiTIKI · 21/05/2021 07:49

@CTMcG that's a good idea! It's funny because I was starting to talk myself in to sneakily testing today... My period is not due until Friday next week though 😅 of course I've been trying to convince myself why it might show positive already... I had a lot of cramps a week ago but no period. 4 weeks now since last Af.

It's easier for my husband to think rationally about these things because it's not his body!

Do when will you test do you think? In a couple of days from now? Hope its positive for you!!

Bit odd, this is your try for a third, I had a period of many years trying and never tested till I was actually late, whats the difference in knowing before your period comes, it seems odd getting yourself upset for nothing.

ChikiTIKI · 21/05/2021 07:50

*so when

@ChikiTIKI i am going to test tomorrow then if bfn im not going to test until missed af going forward. This forum is so good for support and advice but i also think it feeds into testing early and convincing yourself you are pregnant. There is nothing wrong with that but personally it is not going to work for me because i have drove myself crazy this month so i am going to do it the old fashion way and not test until af is late, easier said than done but im gonna try! Lol xx

Early pregnancy tests have a lot to answer for.

They’re invariably inaccurate, cause a lot of anxiety, and yet the manufacturers are coining it in.
There’s literally no reason to test until your period is at least a couple of days late. And for people who say that you would know if you’ve had a chemical pregnancy, what does that achieve? It’s far better just not to know than to grieve for what you thought was going to be a baby and never actually was.

LizziesTwin · 21/05/2021 08:01

I always waited until I was late, no point wasting money on something inconclusive.

I wonder what the statistics of early use pregnancy tests and visits to the EPU are, or the seeking of medical attention for such events.

@mimsytove depending on the complication I don't think epu usually sees people before 7 weeks.

I have been seen at 5 1/2 weeks but that was due to previous ectopic. But I did not test before AF was missed even under those circumstances.
