Hi everyone, I have had a v feint positive this morning and I have been taking 100mg B6 the last 2 months to lengthen my luteal phase. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is safe to continue taking or if I need to stop it now? Thank you

Dont stop! As its helping your progesterone

Chat to your gp about it though

@Annny27 Thank you. When I originally started it I mentioned it to the nurse and she didn’t know anything about it, so not sure they’ll have much info x

Hi @BellaBoo7.

I've been reading up on B6 recently as I'm looking into taking them to hopefully help with lengthening my cycle.

Read this from Holland and Barrett website is not to take more than 200mg a day:
www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/vitamins-and-supplements/vitamins/vitamin-b/what-does-vitamin-b6-do/

"What happens if I consume too much vitamin B6?
Taking more than 200mg a day of vitamin B6 for long periods is known to trigger peripheral neuropathy. This can be permanent, so make sure you never consume too much.16 High doses of vitamin B6 can also cause sores on the skin, sensitivity to sunlight, and digestive troubles, including heartburn and nausea.17"

@Annny27 do you know how long you can or should keep taking it for? X

@EveryMumDay thank you for that link. I’m taking 100mg so am under the 200mg limit but obviously over the recommended daily 🤦‍♀️. I’d say the high dose has helped me regulate etc it’s just knowing when to stop now 😢 x

@bellaboo7 well as it acts like progesterone I would say untill 12 weeks as that's when most women stop their progesterone supplements:)

@Annny27 thank you x

@Annny27 so I went to the doctors and asked them and they can’t help me as it’s not something they have guidance on so I’m still unsure if I need to drop the dosage down or if the 100mg is safe 😢 x

@bellaboo7 the nerve damage risk did concern me so I stopped my 100mg but I dont think its advised during pregnancy to drop so suddenly so perhaps you could reduce the dosage slowly like down to 90mg one week and then 80mg and so on? Xx

BellaBoo7 · 14/05/2021 13:17

@Annny27 yes that’s my worry and doctors here don’t seem to push vitamins etc much. My friend in Australia though has just told me her dr has prescribed them to her for morning sickness x

So I am about to run out of my 100g b6 and have had zero useful advice from the doctors or midwives! I’m unsure whether to order more or a lower dose amount or if it’s safe to drop. I will be 9.5 weeks when I run out x
