Ovulation bleeding? High peak for days....

Hi there

I'm trying to avoid Dr Google for fear of scaring myself. According to my femometer app, I'm in my fertile week (regular logging on AF and LH levels). I've been spotting (I'm assuming spotting, and not AF, but how do you tell the difference?)for 3 days, and I've had the same reading on the OPK for 5 days (image attached). The app keeps reading the control line on the left and Low, when its actually the fainter line on the right which is the control line.

Should I worry or is this normal and just one of those things?

On month 4 of TTC for the first time and realise more and more I have no idea about women's health, hormones, anacronyms in a cycle, what's normal, what's not. I'm 35 if that helps in anyway.

Any reassurance or guidance is much appreciated. Thanks

idiosyncracies not anacronyms (facepalm*)

Have you done a pregnancy test? Sometimes opks pick up hcg...

rosamay48 · 12/05/2021 10:55

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I hadn't even considered that, I had so many BFNs, and then my period, but I just did a femometer test and a clearblue one and its a BFP!!!! I'm so confused, I have no idea where I am in my cycle now. I'm going to call the doctors.

Ahh that's such great news! Congratulations!

I want to see a pic of the bfps!

The spotting is a concern but I am finding it a relief that we have potentially "conceived" even if something goes wrong.

Grab a clear blue digital that tells you how many weeks. You just need to remember to add 2 weeks to whatever clear blue gives you. So if says 3+ weeks, you’re at least 5 weeks pregnant but the pregnancy unit will help you work out your dates.

Congratulations!

Great shout, thank you! I'll pop up to the pharmacy in my lunch break. I was not expecting this at all today. Confused

@rosamay48 the spotting may not be anything to worry about. I spotted most days of the first trimester with my daughter, particularly if I did sport. You will need to call the community midwives for your area to register the pregnancy and I would suggest mentioning it then because I expect they may like to see you. Probably best to call them rather than your GP (although may be different in your area). I ended up having an early scan at about 8 weeks which showed the heartbeat and now have a healthy 2 year old, no complications in the pregnancy.

Fantastic thanks @Noodella18 I've done the self-referral form for my local hospital maternity services and called the Early Pregnancy Unit who reassured me it was noting to work about just yet, but if it gets heavy or I have pain to go to A&E. Again, can't thank you enough for suggesting it, I would never have thought about it otherwise, and would have assumed my cycle was a just a mess.

I LOVE that within an hour of posting this thread you had an unexpected BFP!! Amazing

rosamay48 · 12/05/2021 18:40

@Hopefulhedgehog it's absolutely crazy, I'm in shock. Just waiting for my partner to come home from work to share the unexpected news. He was expecting us to DTD this evening.

Awe this is so great. Very happy for you!

Did you do a clearblue weeks digital test? Or saving that for tomorrow morning?

rosamay48 · 12/05/2021 19:48

@Noodella18 I've ordered it on amazon same day delivery, so just waiting for it to arrive through the letterbox. GP reckons I could be 6 - 7 weeks.

Please post when you do it! Fingers crossed!

mummysharkk · 12/05/2021 22:02

Congratulations what a lovely outcome!

VixFromThe6ix · 13/05/2021 00:13

Congratulations!! I love these kind of threads. Surprise BFP! What a blessing :)

rosamay48 · 13/05/2021 07:55

Thank you everyone. Digital test is saying 2 - 3 so add 2 weeks, first day of last period was 25th March so I guess anywhere between 5 and 7 weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️ still in shock 😂

Wooooo! Fantastic! xx

InTheNightWeWillWish · 13/05/2021 21:45

Woohoo! Congratulations OP! It’ll sink in soon. Hospital will probably get you in based on your last period but you may be behind those dates and they’ll tell you to come back a week or two later to properly date you. You’ll know soon enough.
