Polyp

I had a TV scan yesterday and the sonographer found a polyp. She said it was low and not necessarily an issue but I’ve read that they can cause problems with conceiving.
I don’t have the full results on size yet but wanted to get my head round the options before we have the conversation.

Has anyone had a polyp removed?
Or any advice/information on issues with conceiving with one.

I’ve had two polyps removed, it wasn’t my favourite thing I did that week but it really wasn’t bad, so don’t worry about the procedure if you have it removed! In terms of conceiving I’m not a great person to ask because I can’t seem to conceive with or without a polyp! I did get pregnant last spring when I definitely had a polyp, but that ended in miscarriage, since then I have had the polyp removed and still can’t conceive. I think if you’re going to be able to conceive relatively easily you’ll do it with or without the polyp.

Thank you so much for replying.

Glad to hear that the procedure wasn’t too bad. Did you have it done on the nhs?

Hope you find some answers soon.

Yep, both times it was done on the NHS, the only issue I had is that I didn’t know at either of the appointments that’s what I was going for! One time the appointment letter just said I needed a follow up appointment, and the second time I thought I was just going in for a scan of a cyst! The procedure itself was fine, just not great communication and organisation, but at least that meant I didn’t have time to stress about it! Afterwards both times I felt fine, just really tired and drained, but not sore or painful at all!

Hello @rk47, i literally had the same thing discovered at an ultrasound appointment. Was told i have polyps and I should speak to my fertility nurse this week to arrange for removal. Sounds a bit scary...but at least there's hope that if they get it out, i might become pregnant more easily!
Did you get any more information since your original post?? Fingers crossed!

Hi @MamikH. Sorry you’re in the same position.

Unfortunately no update here. They decided that they couldn’t get enough information from the scan so need to do a repeat scan. The sonographer said it was a polyp during the scan though. I’m pretty frustrated because they scheduled it for too late in my cycle and now I have to wait another month to find out more (I’m not eligible for nhs help so this was a private scan)

It is a bit scary, but I’m kind of hoping it is that as it should hopefully be easy enough to resolve and fingers crossed that’s what’s causing us problems.

Do you have any symptoms from them?
