Missed period negative test

Hi all

I’m very new to this and looking for some advice :)

I stopped taking mini pill (cerelle) on April 9th. On April 22nd I got a static smiley face on OPK test after 8 days of flashing faces.

On mini pill I didn’t get any bleeding and was on it for 6 years. Stopped taking it once to check everything was still working and withdrawal bleed came within 2 weeks. From stopping this time, there’s been nothing. I took a pregnancy test this morning as periods were quite regular 30 day cycles last time and if OPK test is right, period should have been due on about 8th (if my maths is correct). Has this happened to anyone before? Static smiley face, negative pregnancy test but no period?

It’s obviously very early days of TTC and I know just body is still adjusting to no pill so I know conceiving is unlikely early on

I'm almost in exactly the same boat as you!
I should have come on my period on Saturday, i have had spotting yesterday and today but that's stopped now.
Negative test on Sunday on a Clearblue digital.

I don't know whats going on 🙁

It may be that you didn’t actually ovulate even though you got an LH surge as you should have a positive by now if you ovulated after that peak. What pregnancy test have you used?

There are always exceptions to the rules obviously and you should probably test again in a couple of days. If you kept up DTD after your positive ovulation test, you may have still caught it anyway.

Used a first response last week and then a supermarket own one today.

Is it normal not to ovulate when you’ve had a peak smiley?

It’s really frustrating. When I saw it I thkught ‘oh I’m ovulating straight away and wasn’t expecting that’ but now really disappointing that I probably haven’t ovulated

I don’t think it’s normal so to say, but an LH surge isn’t a definitive sign of ovulation, it means your body tried to, I think measuring BBT is the closest and at-home way of ensuring ovulation.

I know, there feels like there are so many disappointments when TTC. Don’t give up hope, as you say, the pill will influence your hormones for a little while.

Yeah it’s hard not get frustrated....
Hopefully I’ll get a period soon and I can figure out my cycles :)

Yes, your period should come either way. I'm sorry I know how frustrating it is coming off the pill and waiting for a regular cycle.
But maybe use another frer just to be sure?

@MissLB I'm in the same boat! Been off the pill six months, jumped straight into 3 day periods every month and my cycle never goes over 35 days, I'm currently 4 days late and day 39, 3 negative pregnancy tests.. don't have a clue what's going on! I thought after 6 months they get better not start messing up 🤷🏼‍♀️

@MissM94 might be worth taking another pregnancy test in a few days. I have a friend whose tests were negative until day 10. Probably very rare thkugh! But I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
My AF hasn’t shown up yet but was at the doctors yesterday and she explained that I probably did ovulate but my lining won’t be thick enough yet to sustain a pregnancy and that’s why I haven’t bled yet. Little bit of reassurance for me I guess. It’ll just take a little while

10 days?! That's crazy, how are so many people able to get a positive test 6 days before AF is due? 😂 thank you, I think I'll just try and wait until next week.. "try" being the key word 😂😂

I hope your cycles and everything around it will be back to normal very soon! But just keep in mind, that even though you do everything right, like flashing smilies and dtd around that a lot, there's still never a 100% guarantee to get pregnant. Some get pregnant the first month trying, some after 8 month but are totally healthy. It's just how it is. Good luck on your journey! xx

I stopped taking cerelle 6th June I think I had a withdrawal bleed couple days later but no period since!!
I really thought I was pregnant done loads of tests still negative :( spoken to the doctors 6 weeks ago and she said it’s normal. I’m going to ring again Monday so dishearted.

Hi, I’m brand new to mumsnet but have been a long-term lurker and I had to sign up when I saw this post. I came off the progesterone only pill on the 5th June, so really similar to you @Goingoutofmymind21! I haven’t had any sort of withdrawal bleed but I tracked ovulation using Clear Blue and got a few days of flashing smilies and then a peak at the end of July. I’m now roughly 15dpo with no period and negative pregnancy tests. So very much in the same boat as a lot of you on this thread. Not much else to add really but it’s a little reassuring to hear I’m not alone!
