Hi

I had a MMC last month, followed by 2 rounds of medical management and an ERPC. My consultant told us to wait until my next cycle to start TTC.

I have been using clear blue ovulation. The past three 3 day been a smily face (just static) today its empty circle. Does this mean I'm not in a fertile window now and its ok for us to DTD without the probability of conceiving?

Hi.

So sorry to hear about your MMC. I went through my MMC surgery last October 2020 at over 12 weeks. I had the normal bleed after surgery and did a pregnancy test to see if it's negative. Once I got the negative result, I started to track ovulation using clearblue ovulation 4 days predictor (purple sticks) and got static smiley face (peak). DH and I tried to conceive straight away but it didn't happen for us and till today no luck.

Have you done a pregnancy test and was it negative?

Quite a few people on here say that after a MMC, you are very fertile and can conceive quickly. Its not the case with me.

Sorry about your loss. I would possibly check whether the test is faulty. I use these tests and this has never happened to me providing you use them each morning without a gap. I think if you don't use them every morning they may reset themselves and then if using them again, they start off with the empty circle.

After picking up a rise estrogen should keep with the flashy faces until they see the infra as in the LH hormone.

These tests do work though - I have fallen pregnant 3 times with these tests in the last 13 months (also using the cheapie ones alongside). Sadly 2 ended up in MC, am pregnant again but I am expecting this also to end in MC sadly.

Best of luck. X

Thanks for your responses the pregnancy test is a very faint positive.

The ovulation stick yesterday indicated ovulation and today its a lot less strong.

So hard to know what's going on

Have you got a pic of the lines on the tests?

I honestly think it sounds like your test is faulty. I can't think of any other reason why it would go from flashing smiley to the blank circle if you have been testing each day

Ahh sorry - I was getting confused. I use the blue Clearblue ones which pick up estrogen and LH. Although both pink and blue CB tests are not intended to be used again after you have got your peak test.

I think it is most likely that your peak was the first static smiley and if your hormones take a while to go back down (like mine do) they may pick them up still a couple of days later if you do re-test. The first time you test again after the peak is always going to come up with the empty circle as the machine thinks it's a new cycle.

The other option is your having multiple peaks - where you try to ovulate, fail to do so and your body tries to a couple of days later.

You would be covering all bases if you just dtd again I would suggest!

Thanks a mill! I want to wait until AF comes before we start trying again. So its probably best to wait another day or so to dtd?

My pregnancy tests are still showing very faint positives, could that be the reason why ovulation may not have worked a few days ago? Just want for my body to get back to normal norm

Ahh - yes, if you are still having hints of positive pregnancy tests then that may be the reason why the ovulation tests are not working properly. Ovulation tests can pick up pregnancy hormones. If I took an ovulation tests now it will go straight to static straight away.

It makes sense now. Sorry for confusing things. If you want to wait for AF before trying again then yes hold off dtd without protection until AF comes. You may be ovulating now - or it may just be HCG still showing up!

Thank you! Just wish there was a magic want to normalise all of this.

Dw I feel your pain. It's a tough time as it is without the confusion of OPKs.
