Fertility clinic advice

Hi - I’ve been referred for IVF, but I’m not sure which clinic to go for. It’s between Jessops wing or Care clinic in Sheffield. Does anyone have experience choosing between the two /using one of them? This will be NHS funded so would like to make the best choice for the first round.

I think the live birth rate statistics for Care is slightly better than Jessops.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

I can't advise on either of those clinics, but be aware that the 1st thing they will likely do it weigh you! If you are well within a normal weight range for your height, then don't worry and ignore me.

In my case, I knew I was close to the upper weight limit to qualify for NHS IVF. I was at a busy London hospital and they wouldn't even allow me time to remove a metal knee brace I had on nor my jacket! If you are near the upper limit, wear light clothing (not jeans) and shoes you can easily slip off before getting on the scales. Best of luck.

Hi, which did you chose in the end? I was given the same choice last week and went with Care due to the better results in my age range. As my consultant put it, more take home babies 😬. Good luck whichever you chose.

My tip would be the easiest one to get to (as I assume their stats are pretty similar)

If you're juggling IVF with a job you'll be spending time going to scans and meetings so it's best to try and shave off travel time where you can!

I’ve actually gone for Care now as the stats are better with them, so wanted to give our first round the best go!

Did you guys / are you doing anything to prep for IVF - exercise / vitamins? I’m taking pregnacare, ubiquinol, vitamin D and omega 3 (more because I’m have a more veg diet at the moment).

I’m just taking pregnacare conception, I haven’t changed anything else but I eat well and exercise 5 x a week anyway, thinking I will try to lose about 5lb of lockdown weight gain before I start. Any idea on care waiting times for NHS?

BAIL08 · 10/05/2021 17:25

@Spoonmoon not sure yet what the waiting time is. I’m getting tests etc transferred across to them and then I think we’ll discuss it. I’ve also started exercising again. I stopped for ages because I was so paranoid about TTC and exercising, but not doing much didn’t help either, so I am just going to go for it in the lead up to IVF.

Sounds like a good plan, fingers crossed for you ♥️
