ClearBlue Ovulation - straight to static smiley??

Hi all,

I wonder if someone might be able to give me some advice.

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in February and this is our 2nd cycle of trying again for our first baby.

Last month I ovulated really late in my cycle CD19, where I usually ovulate CD12 as I have short cycles of 26 days. But I think the late ovulation was just my body adjusting after the miscarriage.

I'm currently on CD10 and have been testing for ovulation. Yesterday was blank circle (not fertile) and today it's gone straight to static smiley. What's happened to the flashing smiley that you usually get for a few days beforehand?!

It might also be worth mentioning that I'm suffering terribly at the moment with a cold and have been dosed up on tablets so I'm wondering if this has had some affect on the tests?

So, my question is... has anyone else had not fertile result one day, then the next day static smiley indicating I'm now in my 2 most fertile days?

Thank you for reading

From my understanding - the first day of each cycle that you test you will always get an empty circle while it gets your base line - then it will give you your reading from the next day. So maybe you would have been measuring high/flashy if you'd tested a few days before. I'd say get bd'ing!

Thanks @Lolajames sorry I should have said that I tested CD7 and CD 9, both with blank circle then today on CD10 I got the static smiley.

We don't want to miss it so we're just going to go for it this month and hope for the best.

The static is meant to detect an LH surge - which tbh you can have more than one of in a single cycle. If you're having wonky cycles post MC I'd guess it could cause an unexpected LH surge like this but to carry on testing to see if you have any more statics during the week.

You mentioned that you normally ovulate CD12 and that it's CD10 today... it's most common to ovulate 12-36 hours after an LH surge so you could still be ovulating on CD12 with a static today?

Thanks @Juno231 I'm pretty much back to my old cycle whereby I ovulate CD12. My Flo app is predicting that this month I will ovulate a day earlier than normal on CF11 (today).

I really hope this is the month for us 🤞🏻

Just to add, I will still keep testing though just to see if I get multiple surges. If it doesn't happen this month then at least I will have a better understanding of my cycle post MC for trying next time. But hopefully we get lucky this month!

Have you had any luck that month? The same thing just happened to me so I'm wondering if I still have chances
