Positive Test but on period?

My period was just under 2 weeks late. Never had a late period before, usually comes early if anything.
Bought tests yesterday, but started bleeding (usual cramps and colour) before I took them.
Anyway this evening, something made me take the test and there are definitely 2 lines there.
I'm really confused right now.😕

Positive Test but on period?

That's definitely positive. Bleeding can be normal for some in early pregnancy but best to get it checked x good luck x

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 30/04/2021 20:20

How heavy was the bleeding? I would contact your early pregnancy unit for some advice, maybe see if they will can you?

Maidmummy · 01/05/2021 06:36

I had the same thing with my daughter 7 years ago, had a period in the November and the December, found out I was pregnant end of January and assumed I conceived in December but my first scan put me forward 4 weeks meaning I conceived in the November. No idea why I had a period in the December but for me it wasn't anything sinister as I went on to have a healthy pregnancy, never happened in any of my other pregnancies strangely enough.

Might be worth contacting your doctor and trying to get a referral to EPU. Good luck x

I had heavy (normal period-type) bleeding at 4 weeks with both my pregnancies. It seems I just have heavy implantation bleeds.
For some people, bleeding is normal in pregnancy. That's a strong line too so fingers crossed for you.

ivfgottwins · 01/05/2021 07:03

Unfortunately this sounds like an early miscarriage depending on how heavy the bleeding is

SeaTurtles92 · 01/05/2021 07:06

As others have said it would be implantation bleeding and it isn't unheard of for people to still have periods whilst pregnant although not so common.

Ring your EPU unit and good luck.

SeaTurtles92 · 01/05/2021 07:06

Not sure why I added the extra unit.

Could not would* Blush.

rattlemehearties · 01/05/2021 07:08

It's an early miscarriage.

midnightstar66 · 01/05/2021 07:09

Some people do bleed during pregnancy. I've a friend who had bleeds when their period would normally be all the way through therefore didn't know she was pregnant til very late on. (Obviously not actually a period as that's impossible), alternatively it could be implantation bleeding. Some peoples are quite heavy, or a one off bleed for another reason. Of course the other possibility is an early miscarriage. It's perhaps too soon to confirm which of these it is but a call to the EPU might be helpful. They may not offer you a scan at this stage though, seems to vary depending on where you are in the country.

littleburn · 01/05/2021 07:13

From my own experience it could be an early miscarriage OP. Your hormone levels stay elevated for a while so you still get positive tests.

ivfgottwins · 01/05/2021 07:26

You wouldn't get implantation bleeding 2 weeks after your period was due - it could be a SCH which a lot of people experience but at this point I'd probably continue to test to see if the line fades

IARTNS · 02/05/2021 10:27

Gut feeling is that I'm miscarriage, rang 111 as being the weekend I can't get an appointment with GP til Tuesday and the EPAU won't see anyone without a referral.
OOH GP has basically said I have to wait it out unless it gets worse and do another test in a few weeks time.
