BBT/OPK help

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping for some help reading my OPK & BBT levels. Wondering if I have ovulated or not.
I generally ovulate around day 19-24.
I know there isn't much data here, my OPKs have been negative after the point shown in the chart till now.
I appear to have had an increase in LH CD21, but then it disappears. Is it possible I've missed it on the chart? My BBT appears to be above the standard temp pre-ovulation (36 degrees ish), indicating I've ovulated.
Have I ovulated or not?
I plan to keep testing but wondering if I'm wasting OPKs at this point.. 😔
Thanks xx

Sorry I don't think those tests are positive, you missed day 23 so you could have had a spike then?

Did you temp before ovulation? When do say "standard temp" do you mean yours or in general?

Juno231 · 30/04/2021 13:54

Are your temps showing as in the 35s in that chart? That can't be right - are you taking it in your armpit by any chance?

drugsdontwork · 01/05/2021 11:47

@Juno231 the blue line is the BBT and the scale is on the right so it's in the 36s

rttcbabyno1 · 01/05/2021 19:27

Thank you for responding @drugsdontwork @Juno231 sorry, I know the charts aren't easy to read, I've attached the list of temps instead, I haven't been doing it for long this month. I take the temp from my mouth not armpit lol. Day 23 was negative, just didn't manage to record it.

I've had a slight increase in LH today, it just seems odd that it doesn't reappear I've ovulated this month (yet?). Was thinking I had an anovulation.. I'm 26 and healthy (although actively TTC for 9 months now 😞) I've been tracking ovulation for all that time too.

You really need to do BBT throughout the month (or at least a week before ovulation) so you can see a clear temp shift at ovulation. There isn't a standard temperature which your body reaches when ovulating as it's personal to you. There's also other factors to consider like making sure it is taken at the same time, how much sleep you've had, room conditions etc

Do you have regular cycles?

Noodella18 · 01/05/2021 21:51

Sorry to go off topic but @juno231 are temps in the 35s bad? My follicular temps don't get above 36 and my luteal temps are 36.6 max.

Juno231 · 01/05/2021 23:24

@rttcbabyno1 ah sorry that I misread the chart! As others have said, there's no way to tell if you only started temping at cd23 although your temps do look quite low for post O.

@Noodella18 it's just pretty unusual. Whenever I've seen regular sub 36 temps it's either due to user error (eg there was one lady on here who had kept the silicone cap on the thermometer that it came with out of the packaging - and another was temping using her forehead temp!) or because they had thyroid issues. Do you know what your tsh is? Have you got any signs of hypothyroidism?

Noodella18 · 01/05/2021 23:51

@Juno231 thanks for the reply. That's a bit concerning! I'm often quite tired but then I have a toddler so unsurprising, and I guess I've ways been a chilly mortal but not ridiculously so, and I do take antidepressants - have battled anxiety/depression forever. None of the other symptoms though. I just took my temp having been moving round and it was 37.2 orally, plus I tested on a different thermometer and the same. Having just looked at my chart I realised it's actually generally not over 36.2 (had remembered where the coverline was) but still often below 36. I do wonder what impact broken sleep has? Toddler usually wakes me once or twice a night. Perhaps I should look at getting my thyroid checked though. Have attached my chart in case you have any thoughts! (ignore the date, I needed to replot some temps on a fresh chart and that was the nearest blank one.)

I’m the same as you with my temps @Noodella18, usually below 36, I had one of 35.45 this month? Think I’m a cold person! I have a tsh level of 0.73 so the opposite end of hypothyroid as well lol!

Juno231 · 02/05/2021 21:26

@Noodella18 it could be nothing but it's always worth checking out (esp as it would affect fertility). My close friend got diagnosed with hashimotos after her second baby and had just always thought it was post partum fatigue or the life of a mum 🤷‍♀️

Noodella18 · 02/05/2021 22:01

OK thanks for the heads up @juno231 really interesting to hear that it affected somebody post partum too. I think I'll email to gp.

rttcbabyno1 · 03/05/2021 09:16

Hi all,
Check this out... so my OPK peak happened yesterday (the orange), my temp has plummeted.
Any ideas?

@rttcbabyno1 I’m new to temping but from what I’ve read you get a temp dip around the time of ovulation then it should rise, so if you got peak opk then the next day or day after you should ovulate then get a temp rise

Juno231 · 03/05/2021 09:38

Looks like your ovulation is today potentially! Ovulation dips are normal and an easy indicator for when ovulation happened - if your next three temps are higher than the last six then you'll know today was the day!
