How to log..... spotting or period?

Mahbe this is me just being stupid.... but this months AF made me wonder, given that we've just started TTC.

I've been logging my periods on FLO for maybe 18 months to 2 years but i'm not convinced that i'm doing it right. My doubts come from, for example this month, my period arrived a little earlier than usual, Saturday rather than Wednesday. However, Saturday afternoon was just a bit of spotting when wiping, which didn't even need a tampon until Sunday morning. My question is, do I log my period as starting on Saturday or Sunday? I've always logged it from when I started spotting, but should I be logging it from when I actually need a tampon?

Sorry if this is a really silly question, but for the moment with TTC i'm just going with the data that FLO and Premom chuck out.

Thanks in advance xx

I'd log your period from your first day of the full, red bleed. I log it as spotting prior to that.

I am exactly the same though, I spot for a few days before I actually start

Hi op,
I had a terrible period where I would spot for 8 days and get my heavy day along with cramping on day 9 and all together it would be 14 days.
I always logged since first spotting day. That made my ovulation very very late.
So when I had my consultation with fertility clinic, the obgyn said I need to count from the first heavy day. Which would make sense and put my ovulation about where it needs to be if I counted from heavy day.
Progesterone has fixed the spotting prior to heavy day.
So, to answer your question, I'd count from heavy day.

Thanks for the replies. Don't know whether to go back and edit my April dates then? Can't remember for previous months, but as these apps take an average of sorts it might affect my dates Confused

I would include the day with little spotting in my period. I usually have very very little brown spotting on my first AF day. I think it is part of the period. I won't count it as an end date unless no period blood or spotting is found. I logged spotting once because it caught up with my ovulation. haha! And, you can click "Edit Period" in the premom app to change your period. Good luck!

Have you done a pregnancy test as a
Few days before AF due is about implantation time which can cause some spotting

@custardbear I haven't because the spotting developed into a regular, if slightly lighter period, which lasted 5 days. Also i'm pretty sure I missed my fertile window last month by a day or 2. Currently about 4dpo this cycle, depending on if I count the spotting or not Smile
