Sorry if this is a stupid question. I track my cycles using the clear blue advanced digital tests and got my peak fertility reading on day 14 of my cycle. First thing in the morning if that helps (night before was high). As I don’t temp I have no idea when I actually ovulated. I’m currently on day 28 and so I thought my period was due today. But could I be wrong?

It's fairly likely that you ovulated on day 15; you usually ovulate within 24-36 hours of your LH surge I think 😊
That would mean your period is likely to be due on day 29, so tomorrow but there's a slight chance you ovulated day 16 too.
Your cycle is on exactly the same schedule as mine! I got my peak fertility reading this morning which is day 14 and have signs of ovulation 😊

I hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply @Sarie24 really helpful. I’ve ovulated late this month (usually day 12 or 13) but I’ve been having acupuncture and taking EPO so that could account for it. Desperately trying to hold off testing until I’m officially late but it’s got to the stage where I just want to know.

Just to add to the above - when your period shows up has to do with how long your luteal phase normally is. So don't assume it's due tomorrow based on a formulaic 14 days when women can have LPs up to 17 days long.

Sarie24 · 23/04/2021 20:45

You're welcome @Rockape1992 😊 sometimes ovulation does just shift around a little for no obvious reason too, mine varies a bit from day 14-16 😊
You're showing very good restraint by waiting until you're late though, I wish I had that much self control 😂 I hope to hear how you get on, fingers crossed for your bfp 😊!

Noodella18 · 23/04/2021 20:47

@rockape I thought that ovulation would be day after peak but judging by my temps I actually ovulated same day with peak at 5pm. The LH takes 3-6 hours to get into the urine, so you might have had your surge late on day 13, only registering in your pee in the morning. So it's quite possible you might have ovulated on day 14.

Sarie24 · 23/04/2021 20:48

@Juno231 makes a very good point! My LP is always 14 days but that's not the same for everyone 😊 I'm still learning a lot about cycles myself, everyone here is always so helpful 😁

FayLiv · 23/04/2021 20:48

Hi there

So would I be right in thinking without temp tracking that with my smileys (2day most fertile clear blue stick, not the flashing kind) which were 14th and 15th that I ovulated a day later than that? For some reason I just assumed those were my ovulation days. Can be a it overwhelming this tcc sometimes 😂

Good luck OP x

Rockape1992 · 23/04/2021 20:50

Thanks @Juno231 I usually ovulate day 12 or 13 and get my period day 26 or 27 so think my LP usually is 14 days. Do you know if this can vary from cycle to cycle or is this usually always the same length?

Haha not that much restraint as I’ve been holding my pee for the last 4 hours in the hope that I could do a test today! I will let you know - it’s been an odd cycle for me with spotting at random times and stopping and starting which is not like what I usually get but after all this time ttc I’ve learnt not to read too much into anything as I’ve been disappointed so many times.

Aw, how long have you been ttc @Rockape1992? I have my fingers and toes crossed for you 😊🤞

Rockape1992 · 23/04/2021 20:57

9 months. I know, I know, it’s really not that long in the grand scheme of things but feels like forever to me and the more months that go by, the more anxious and stressed I’m getting. Thanks so much for your post

I should add, my DS was a surprise as we weren’t properly trying and he happened instantly which I know is insanely lucky. The downside is it’s given me a totally unrealistic idea of how long it takes most people to get pregnant and I’ve totally panicked that it hasn’t happened for me yet.

9 months isn't a short time either, even though they say up to a year is normal it's about how you feel so don't feel bad about feeling anxious or stressed, everyone's journey is different 😊 it must feel weird after you conceived so quickly with your first too, although my brother and SIL had a similar experience! Their first was conceived first cycle and their second was after 11 months 😊 they went on to conceive their third on their first cycle again too, just to be confusing 😂

I really hope this is your month!! 😊

Rockape1992 · 23/04/2021 21:27

Oh my god I can’t believe it, I’m literally shaking! I’m only bloody pregnant!
