Should I have a second child? Advice needed please.

Hi All,

I've recently had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. I was devestated as it was planned. However in hindsight, I'm thinking maybe it was for the best as my DS1 is 2 and hasnt started speaking yet. I'm in the process of getting him referred to a speech therapist and he will need extra attention.
So I'm wondering if I should even bother trying for a second baby just yet? Should I wait until he starts speaking. I don't want a new baby to have a negative impact on him. Totally confused as I did think we would try again in a couple of months.

To be honest, if it was me I'd carry on trying. Just because as your little one gets older, the jealous rivalry usually kicks in more and I think your little one will want more attention in a couple of years than now! Obviously I get why you're worried, but you'd still have at least 9 months to give him extra attention.

It's completely up to you and how you're feeling about everything! There's never really a 'right' time and there will always be a reason not to have another, but whenever you choose to go for it, things always work out and you work around the worries!

You're welcome! I guess it comes down to how you were feeling when you found out you were pregnant before the miscarriage. If it was happiness then you'll probably feel the same way if you tried again and got pregnant! 😊

@OooooMyPaPa Thanks for your reply. Yes, I probably will wait a bit as I'm still getting a positive pregnancy test!
@ChickenNuggetRose yes, but seriously I'm just scared of trying again. I would hate to have another miscarriage.
I actually have slight feelings of guilt as I was although I was happy I was pregnant, what made me happier was that I'd be able to go on maternity leave ( I hate my job)!
