Fertility scan

Hello,

I am having a transvaginal ultrasound scan next week at the fertility clinic. I have had a few scans before but wondered if the fertility scan would be different to those the NHS do? Do they look for other things? Are they able to see other things? Sorry if it is a stupid question!

Were the ones on the NHS transvaginal ultrasounds as well? If so I imagine they look for the same stuff!

What did your previous NHS one look for? Also, what day in your cycle are you going in, if it is just before your scheduled ovulation date they will probably count your number of follicles and see how many are maturing. That was part of the first step of my fertility investigations along with the AMH test to look at the ovarian reserve.
Then again, that is the only type of scan I have had so far!

Good luck op!

I had a fertility scan a few weeks ago. I pretty much definitely have PCOS but they wanted to scan to confirm. It wasn't transvaginal though. They say if they can't get a good view with an ultrasound they would do transvaginal but they didn't need to.

They were just concentrating on my ovaries but don't really say much as results are via GP.
