Hi Ladies
Wondering if anyone who has been reffered to NHS fertility help me out.
Who have you seen at your appointments? Is it the consultant or specialist nurses? Ive only seen the nurses and I am getting really confused with what Im being told. Should I ask to see the consultant??

Hello! Feel free to have a look through www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4125758-First-Fertility-Clinic-Appointment-Tomorrow?pg=1 to see if any of your queries are answered there as well.

Personally I've only seen consultants but I know others that seem to only have seen nurses so I think it just depends on the clinic. I don't think the level of care would differ much at these early stages though as they recommend the same type of standard tests dependent on what your stats/situation is like?

What's been confusing so far about your care if I may ask?

@juno231 everytime i speak to a different nurse. I spoke to a different nurse after my scan.then The one who called me today was different and was asking me if i was on any meds when scan/bloods were taken. Im finding this all very confusing plus the fact that i havent met any consultant yet

How many appointments have you had? The nurses will deal with the initial bits, organising tests etc. Once all the tests are done and the results are back, you usually see the consultant then, by say, 4th/5th appointment?

So what stage are you at? Is this at the fertility clinic? Normally you have your initial appointment with them where they tell you what follow up tests to have done, then a follow up appointment to discuss the results and next steps (eg IVF).

It's possible that you won't get to speak to a consultant until it's time for assisted conception - even then it's not unusual to see a different consultant each time.
