Can Ubiquinol delay ovulation?

Hi everyone,

we're trying to conceive our 2nd at the moment and since having a miscarriage/chemical pregnancy two months ago, I read"It starts with the egg" and started taking Ubiquinol 400 mg a day this cycle.

Normally I ovulate regularly on cycle day 15, with about 4 days of "high fertility" before that. I'm currently on cycle day 12 and it still says "low fertility" on my clearblue monitor.

Even after my miscarriage I ovulated the following month.

Has anyone experienced delay in ovulation after starting taking Ubiquinol? x

Hi @Cruiser2021 didn't want to read and run I take Ubiquinol and have not had any delay in ovulation. Have you started some of the other vitamins that "it starts with an egg" recommended? I found myo-insotol did affect my ovulation.

Nope I don't think ubiquinol is meant to have that effect. You could just end up with a quicker surge and still ovulate on time?

Hi @mommybear1

Thank you for your message.

I've started taking

Pregnacare Conception
Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg a day
Ubiquinol 400 mg a day
Vitamin E 200iu daily
Vitamin C 500 mg a day
N-Acetyl-Cysteine 600 mg

Not sure if any of those are known for delaying ovulation?

I’ve read Pregnacare has messed with cycles a lot before.
Perhaps stop taking that and switch to standard folic acid with added b12, and vitamin d. Along with the others if you decide to continue with those.
Good luck x

Hi @Cruiser2021, i also took ubuquinol and didn't notice any effect on ovulation.
I hope you don't mind if i jump on your thread as it's brought up a question for me......
@mommybear1 - i found myo-inositol made me ovulate earlier. It had been recommended by my consultant after a MC. I was taking it in the run up to another ivf cycle but noticed the impact on my cycle so mentioned it to my ivf clinic (w'stones). They said they had never heard of it but i should stop it based on the impact on my cycle. Did you take it for long, and did you find it had any effect? I still have a few boxes left and just had another MC so wondering whether i should start it again.

Hi @Cruiser2021 - I also started taking a load of supplements a couple of months ago after reading that book. My ovulation and AF were both delayed by about 4 days. I had also taken pregnacare conception and that is the prime suspect! It says on the packet it can delay periods and I think the reason for this is it delays ovulation. I was getting worried when I hadn't recorded a peak when expected but it came along in the end! I'm sure it's not doing any harm, but have switched to Zita West multi vits now as I couldn't stand the anxiety of the extra few days wait! Too soon for me to know if it really was the pregnacare but if you look at the Amazon reviews, so many women report it delayed their cycle, so think it's very likely that rather than ubiquinol

My second month after my early miscarriage, my ovulation and cycles were out, and actually still have been a few months later. It might not be to do with the vitamins (I was taking the same ones as before). But yes on Pregnacare I noticed my cycles became a bit different also.

I have started some of those Start With The Egg supplements this month though, and wow feeling so good I haven't even needed my two morning coffees!

mommybear1 · 16/04/2021 15:07

@Cruiser2021 Hi I'm not sure any of the ones you mention are known to delay but I would say that starting any new vitamins/regimen always has a chance of disrupting things a bit. I followed the "it starts with an egg plan" before my second ivf which was unsuccessful. However as I was going for a third ivf I kept the regime up my consultant also added DHEA. I fell pregnant naturally just before my third ivf. HTH.

@Galgal15 Hi I took it for around six months before getting pregnant. I have restarted taking it as we are ttc #2 so far I've been on it for over 12 months and noted no difference to ovulation I've had an mmc during this time as well. HTH?
