Ttc after mirena

Hi all,

My partner (28) and I (26) decided during the pandemic that we’re in a place where we would like to start ttc.

I have endometriosis and had a laparoscopy two years ago during which I was fitted with a mirena coil. Because of the pandemic, I haven’t been able to have the coil removed but have found out this week that I can now get it out if I go to a sexual health clinic. I can’t say I’m delighted at that prospect but it’s my best option right now! So, I’m waiting to hear back about an appointment.

I wondered if anyone here has any experience of having a coil removed and how long it took to conceive afterwards? I’m seeing mixed opinions online and the doctor said up to six months for full fertility to return. I have zero expectation of getting pregnant on our first try but, I’m a curious cat and would be interested to know others experiences.

Thank you!

I had 2 back to back mirenas for 10 years and no periods. Removed last July and started the pill. 1 period in August. Went away for 2 nights in August- forgot the pill and I'm now 7 months pregnant... No endometriosis though. Good luck!
