IUI at clinic vs Home Insemination

I am 39, and have AMH of 15 and been cleared of any issues with transvaginal scan, showing good egg reserves. My only downside is a BMI of 35 and obviously my age.
I'm now looking at the price of everything, and without NHS funding the treatment just for IUI is getting really high, around £1500 for one cycle. The clinic have suggested 2 cycles and if they don't work, going straight to IVF which again, unfunded, would be around £5000.
With the sperm costing around £1000 now (seems to have doubled since I last looked), I'm wondering whether I should bother with the clinic and just do it at home with my wife.
It seems the clinic would just be doing what me and my wife are perfectly capable of doing, and we could save the money to do IVF if necessary.
Any thoughts on pros and cons?
