Help understanding opk

A few days ago I got a strong positive OPK but my app said my ovulation day was yesterday. When I took another opk yesterday it was negative. Does this mean I ovulated early now I’m finished ovulating? Or does the opk go back to negative on ovulation day?

Your peak OPK can appear 12-36hours before ovulation.

Your LH surge happens before you release the egg so you will see a strong OPK before ovulation. As PP said it could be pretty much straight away or could be a day or so after.

If you get a strong OPK and then you’re also seeing a temp drop a couple days later then you can be pretty much sure that you ovulated some time between the two.

Lots of sex leading up to ovulation as the sperm can hang around so it’s best to start even a few days before that OPK occurs - if you’ve been testing for a few months hopefully you can see a pattern by now!

Thank you everyone. We have dtd most days this month and after two ectopics last year I’m really ready! I hope this is the month. I was just confused why the opk was positive and then negative as my app said that was ovulation day. Anyway i made sure I was covered. It’s 10 months trying now including the losses but 4th month trying after methotrexate. Thankyou for responding.

The app will only guess your ovulation day if you don’t enter OPK or if you do it will usually log it the day after.

When I tested after my LH surge my tests went back to negative about a day or two after.
