Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone can offer advice. I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 months now after coming off the Cerelle pill. I have only ovulated once in that whole time and only had one period. I spoke with my doctor the other day and they sent me for blood tests to check my hormones, thyroid and any other possible reasons behind my situation. Have any of you been in this situation? I know 5 months isn't long but it feels like a lifetime, all I want is to be a mummy!!

Hi Willo95,

I’m in the same position as you. I came off the pill in September and ever since my periods have been all over the place. I started tracking my ovulation from January and found it really difficult as I was having highs and multiple peaks throughout my cycle.

I rang the doctors the other day and they suggested a blood test which I had today.

The doctor did suggest PCOS so will see what happens when I get the results. Although PCOS isn’t always confirmed via blood test but by a scan too.

Im glad its not just me. My doctor asked about PCOS too but when I was 14/15 i had a ultrasound and they said there were cycts on my overies but it was never confirmed as PCOS and I didnt have any issues since. Although I went on the pill 4 years ago because my periods were super heavy and so so sore but I had no other symptoms of PCOS. I know the pill can mess your body up for 6-12 months but I thought id still ovulate. When ive been doing research every site says that once coming off the pill you have a withdrawal bleed within 2-4 weeks, i didn't have any bleed until week 8 of being off the pill then I ovulated 6 weeks later then 2 weeks later had my first period and nothing since. Im now 5 weeks and 3 days since my last period and not ovulated at all and not had any symptoms apart from very very mild cramps. I had 12 days of a high opk test then back down to low

@Willo95 Am I reading right that your cycles were normal before going on the pill?

Come join us on the post pill thread (currently called the garden soiree www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/4212810-Post-Pill-Party-The-Garden-Soiree) - loads of ladies there with really nonsense cycles coming off the pill.

Personally, it took 141 days to have a period after coming off the pill. I also get annovulatory cycles and just generally mega long cycles so I know where you are coming from!
