New to this, ovulation strips

When is the best time of the day to use ovulation strips. Someone said that you shouldn't use first pee of the day? I've just received mine and am coming up to when I suspect is my ovulation day so I'm excited to start using them to see if my estimate for ovulation is correct 😍

I normally do mine around 5pm, they say to do it at the same time every day Smile

It's best if you read the instructions on yours to be honest. Some specify first wee of the day, others say definitely not first wee etc. They also tell you which cycle day to start testing - so don't leave it late!

I’ve done my cheap ones around 7pm as I tend to drink a lot in the day. You need a good 3hr wee hold I think! Test twice a day when you get closer. Say second wee + then afternoon.

I liked the clear blue ones as it was first wee and so much easier to get it out the way!

After years using the cheap ovulation tests, then a miscarriage I bought a digital ovulation tester. I fell pregnant with the help of it. Mind you my cycle was so unpredictable.

Clearblue digital dual hormone is generally first wee of the day - if you can afford it I'd also test in the afternoon/early evening

I've done years of ovulation tests and 75% of the time would get a peak in the evening when it wasn't one in the morning. This can mean you are 12 hours "out" in calculating ovulation

My IVF clinics rules are that if you get a peak in the morning then the next day is classed as ovulation but if it's in the evening then it's not the next day but the one after that.

When you only really have a 12 hour Max window it's crucial to get it right

Further to what @ivfbeenbusy and @Millymomooo said

I tested the am and had flashing smiley. Used cheap OPK early evening - v red line. Tested using CBK and got a static at 8pm. I’m deffo glad I had that extra 12 hours as I’m almost certain I ovulated at 3/4pm the following day (felt a pop in my side)

I guess it depends on your LH surge - I found mine to be quite rapid going up and coming back down.

Chanel05 · 06/04/2021 18:24

Clear blue digital you should do in the morning.

Cheapies I used to do 4 times per day as I would sometimes have a quick surge.

I've just looked now as I'm home from work to find it was my pregnancy tests that arrived. The ovulation strips are still in transit, the brand I got for both are femometer as I was told they're good 🤷🏼‍♀️
