I got my BFP about 3 weeks ago so should be about 7 weeks now, I have a reassurance scan booked for Saturday. I’ve been feeling really sick, boobs bigger and sore. However, yesterday the sickness calmed down and my boobs aren’t so sore anymore, so being a bit worried I did a pregnancy test again.

The lines now don’t seem anywhere near as strong as I feel like they should be at this point- does this indicate I’ll have a chemical pregnancy/ early miscarriage? Or am I worrying for no reason?

Hi @GoBrookeYourself

I fully understand your worry. Is there any chance you can bring your scan forward? I think otherwise you'd be worrying until Saturday.
There's something called "hook effect" where you have so much HCG in your body that your pregnancy test can't read it properly. Maybe that's a possibility.
Fingers crossed everything looks well on your scan 🤞🏼

Sorry, forgot to add both lines came up more or less straight away, they’re just not very strong and that coupled with my symptoms being less strong is worrying me.

Hiya,
I wouldnt worry, symptoms come and go especially in the 1st trimester. Youre probably experiencing the hook effect, basically your hcg is so high that the tests go light again, try diluting your wee, maybe 1/2 wee and 1/2 water. If you google it people can experience the hook effect as early as 5 weeks 🙂

Thank you @NoCallerID, I did think about moving it forward. Would the hook effect come into play this early?

Thank you @RoseH96, I didn’t realise pregnancy symptoms come and go in the first trimester, I didn’t have any symptoms at all with my first DS, so now I’m worrying that the symptoms being there but fading are a bad sign!
