Covid -19 vaccine when TTC

Hi all,

So I have been offered the covid vaccine on the 22nd April. We are TTC, due to ovulation on 10th (or there abouts) so could be pregnant when I recoeve the first does of vaccine. This worries me a bit, is it safe? Has anyone else had it when TTC or in the TWW? I'm a normal healthy person normally but there doesn't seem to be much info online about pregnancy in the early stages and the vaccine.

@812mumof3 hi I had the vaccine last month and I am ttc. Had it just after I ovulated but didn't fall pregnant. I thought it was better to have it as I'm in an at risk category. I found it easy and didnt have any side effects. I also haven't seen anything bad about getting it when ttc but there isn't alot of information to go off at the minute. Sorry I can't be much help 🤦 maybe if your unsure wait to see if your pregnant first? X

@KatherineMacGilchristMSc do you have a source for the 307 adverse reactions?

@KatherineMacGilchristMSc thanks for this. But without knowing the total number of pregnant women this is out of, we can't really use the information to determine if the vaccine does increase the risk? The rate of still births in the England for example is actually quite high (1 in 200 births) so are the figures reported in the yellow card system in line with this, or are they higher?

Pregnant women have not been included in the trials for the vaccine, but there has been lots of monitoring in the US (90k pregnant women I think) with no concerns reported

The same with miscarriage. 1in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, are the figures for this higher in pregnant women who have had the vaccine?

@KatherineMacGilchristMSc thank you for this.

I have actually had one vaccine so I guess it's a little late if there are any problems with it. I went back and forth for ages deciding what would be the best thing to do (cases spiked in my area so they fast tracked all 18-40 YOs). I've got my next vaccine booked in a couple of weeks but I'm already worrying about it! The actual known risk of COVID during pregnancy (I'm 3rd trimester) suddenly became very real so I did decide to have it. I'm actually not too concerned with any short term reactions, I'm more worrying if there's anything long term to worry about that hasn't been discovered yet. But I guess the same could be said for having COVID during pregnancy? I pretty much felt damned if I did and damned if I didn't!

Thanks @KatherineMacGilchristMSc I'll take a look at this

I called my GP on 4th May just before my 40th birthday because I was hoping to have both doses before TTC baby number 2 but at the time they told me that none of the doctors would recommend it to me whilst TTC! When I called the helpline to book they told me that they wouldn't book me in for safeguarding reasons if I was or could be pregnant so that put me off but now you can book the vaccine whilst pregnant or TTC. I don't see what changed in such a short amount of time.
