Clearblue ovulation test help!

Just did an ovulation test but was feeling quite sleepy still so popped back to bed to lie down and took the test with me on bedside table whilst waiting for its results.

Unfortunately I knocked it onto the floor. Picked it up and it was still doing its thing and after a minute or two I got the static smiley which was great of course- supposedly ovulating. But then I took the stick thing out and there's only one blue line! I know we're supposed to ignore this but I'm sure usually there was two if youre actually ovulating.. Have I messed it up by knocking the stick to the floor?

I've read that once the static smiley shows it'll stay for 2 days or something and don't do another test as it won't work so how do I know for sure without buying a whole new test kit? 🙈

I should add that I tested religiously last month and got no LH surge but I had ovulation pains one evening and spoke to my clinic (I'm doing egg freezing) and paid for an extra scan and went in a few days later and they could see I had indeed ovulated on the side I'd felt the pain etc! So I'm Feeling particularly unsure these tests work for me! I also need to start medication exactly 7 days after the surge so do need to know this for sure!

Any ideas/experience?

TIA

I'm not sure about knocking it on the floor having an effect. However I had similar to you, I used them for my jan/Feb cycle and had no peak just 9 days of flashing then this month I got my static smiley after 3/4 days of testing and confirmed peak the following day with femometer OPKs. I ovulated the following day and I'm now 5+5. I too was questioning these and had decided next month I would just use the femometer OPKs instead to be honest. Have you got any other tests or just the CB ones? I'm not sure regarding the lines either, however I'm pretty sure the digi pregnancy tests use a laser to read the lines so I would assume these work in the same way so it does seem odd.

Thanks for your reply. It's one that only shows static smiley or no smiley (no flashing one). I'm just so confused by the lack of 2 lines as none of them have had 2 lines in the past few days (well Friday there was a faint one) but I know when I've done them before and I've been around ovulation I've had two lines, albeit not as dark etc. I think maybe the dropping on the floor might have done something to mess up whatever digital reader there might be 🤔

Does anyone have experience of the static smiley and whether or not there are two lines when you eject the stick from the reader?

I usually also feel strong ovulation pains so I guess I'll know if that comes on in the next day or so...had subtle twinges though already 🤔

I have got another fresh set of clear blue coming today and may get some cheapo ones but I'm guessing a) if they do the 2 lines things then it probs won't show anything! and b) I might have missed my peak anyway if it was just that once at 7am and by the time I test again (having had to not wee for 4 hours again) it might not show up anyway.

Just in case anyone comes across this thread in a similar position - just to confirm it was definitely an error because I had dropped it on the floor! I assume because the laser got damaged or something!? No idea how this caused such a thing as it was only dropped from a side table to the floor.. but it does say not to turn it upside down..

I know this because I got some other tests, including the one that does the flashing to static smiley and carried on testing with the flashing/static one for a number of days. When the flashing smiley started (had this for 3 days) I could certainly see the faint getting darker over the next few days. Then I got a static smiley after 3 days of flashing and deliberately also tested with a brand new basic one (that has just an empty circle or static smiley - no flashing one) and this also showed static smiley. Both sticks also had 2 dark lines once ejected. So to answer my own question (!) - yes there should be 2 lines! (Also had twinges in ovaries and EWCM and other ovulation symptoms when I got the smileys).
