How soon did you conceive after coming off the pill?

Just being nosey really. Came off the pill last month and was wondering if it is really necessary to wait for a normal AF or not before TTC. Also how long did it take to conceive after the pill?

when i came off the pill the firs time, it took only 2 months to get pregannt, and even then i seemed surprised.

that didnt actually make any sense and havent even opened tje wine det.

Forgot to add 3 months was 1st time & 5 months 2nd time

Around 3 weeks
We had just got around to the idea of possibly thinking about possibly trying to concieve at somepoint in the future....

1 month - was in shock ! - had been on it for nearly 14 years !

When started ttc dd1 took 2 or 3 mths and had already been off it for at least 6 mths, then with dd2 took 3 mths

First time (coming off 'normal' pill): got pg in the first month of trying.

Second time (coming off mini-pill, still bfing): got pg in the second month of trying.

I think I remember hearing that there is research showing women who have come off the pill get pg more quickly than those who have never been on the pill.

We decided not to bother waiting for normal AF and have been TTC for the last few weeks. Not actually expecting to get a result ant time soon, but keep getting odd symptoms. Can`t believe I could be pg already!

Here is another question then seeing as people seem to have a wide range.

When would you do a pregnancy test? If trying straight after coming off the pill, would not really know when AF due, so tricky to know if late or not. Any tips ??

With ds1 fell came off pill had normal AF then fell pregnant - same with ds2. This time fell pregnant straight away. I got cheap ovulation tests so I would know when I'd ovulated so knew when to test and BFP!

Took 2 years to fall pg with dd1 and 2yrs 2mths fall pregnant with dd2.

I can't realy help with when to test, as with dd1 i only tested because i happen to mention to my mum that my tea tasted funny sho told me to do a test and i was shocked that it was positive as i hadn't had AF for 6 months (was 10 weeks).

With dd2 DH told me to test as i had only had 1 AF in 6 mths and again i was shocked that it was positive and again i was 8 weeks pregnant.

So as you can i pretty bad at knowing that i am pregnant. DH said he knew i was pregnant as i was not so moody .

WHen it comes to buying test the cheaper one are as good as the expensive ones. I asda 2 for £5 both times.

stopped taking my pill when i got af and was pregnant 1st times both times.................. very lucky

i finished pill in August Makapaka, still no AF. Ive decided rightly or wrongly just to do a test every four weeks, Oh ive also delved into the world of cervical mucas to try and tell when im ovulating! hth.

came off the pill had one normal period (althpough was ttcing) and got pregnant 2nd month

Came off the pill in the December and was pregnant by end of April. I didn't wait for first af before trying, just got down to it!

took 8 months for ds and almost a year for dd

Thought it would take a while but it didn't.
I "knew" I was pregnant before I took my test.
Within a couple of weeks I felt sick and boobs felt like big melons.

3 months for me and i was still irregular after having been on pill for donkies - i came back from a girly week in ibiza and dh said my boobs looked huge so bought me a test - i was pregs - with twins.....

and yes they were his.....

you don't have to wait for AF before trying for a baby, but the medics like you to so they can 'date' your pregnancy. it gets tricky to work out a date based on your last AF when you haven't had one! i was on pill for 7 years, came off it ready for conceiving on wedding night..and we did! but then i had to contend with 3 different due dates.
