Smear test and TTC

TTC baby number 2. Had my period this month so not pregnant yet, but got a letter from my GP inviting me for my smear test. I've booked in for this Wednesday, which by my calculations should be either day of ovulation or day before. I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea to actively try to conceive from now until the smear test, as I don't want to "dislodge" anything and I think it's advised not to have sex the 48 hours before as the results can come back inconclusive. I'm just wondering about after the test - is it ok to get back on baby making later that night to catch my most fertile point? Or do I need to wait until next month? I will obviously ask the nurse on Wednesday but wondering about other peoples experiences!

@mama1987 my doctor carried out a smear when I was 5 DPO while TTC. I asked if it was safe if there was a chance I had conceived that cycle and she said it was fine. I wasn't due a smear though, she was doing it to check my cervix due to spotting before AF every month. I'd try to book it before ovulation for peace of mind but it's probably fine. Unless my doctor lied!

They can’t get me in any sooner than Wednesday. I could delay it until next month if AF comes, but then AF may not come as could be the cycle I get pregnant. In which case I would then be waiting another year to have a smear test - it doesn’t feel right putting it off. Just a really awkward time.

I was TTC a few months ago, had sex one night and then woke up to a reminder on my phone that my smear was in an hour. Turned up, almost died of embarrassment telling the nurse the truth, she said they advise 24 hrs but that she’d do it anyway as I was there. It was so embarrassing but she was really nice and my results came back fine and not in-conclusive.

I wouldn’t recommend rocking up 10 hours after unprotected sex because it was mortifying and I felt so guilty. But it worked. Not sure why I’m telling this story Grin

Oh and I tried again that night after my smear and it was fine

I went for my smear test on the Monday after my Saturday wedding. Had sex on the Saturday night and Sunday morning and we weren’t TTC but weren’t preventing it either. Didn’t even think about it. Blush
