How long before I should worry?

My periods have always been irregular which hasn't been an issue until now (because of TTC). I can go a few months having a period every month but then I can go 3-4 months or more without having a period. The longest was 18 months. For a time I was only having a period every other month so I just assumed one ovary doesn't work.

I contacted the doctor who has told me to get 21 day bloods, but this feels impossible as I am approaching the 3rd month of no period. I kind of felt fobbed off because I haven't been trying for long in the grand scheme of things so I don't want to keep going back and bothering them but I'm not sure how long I should leave it before going back and saying I haven't had a period in order to get the day 21 bloods doing. I've been doing OPKs and keep getting close to positive then nothing. I've been temping which hasn't confirmed ovulation has occurred.

I've had no trouble getting pregnant luckily as DC1 I fell pregnant immediately (which was a surprise as we thought it would take a while due to these issues) and I fell pregnant first time last year which ended in a MC but it seems it's the ovulation itself which is a problem.

Go back to your doctor and tell them you want a fertility referral and in the meantime you want full blood work doing. My doctors were a pain in the ass and constantly dismissed me despite 4 chemicals, I then had a mmc, 2 surgeries and period went missing for months. I was having serious pains and was dismissed and ended up in a&e and had a tube infection. You have to be firm.

What you’re experiencing isn’t normal and needs to be investigated. 21 day bloods are no good if you’re not having a period.

Do you have pcos?

Thank you for replying.

I was told in the past that I had PCOS and that as long as I had 3-4 periods a year not to worry. They also said I would need metformin if I wanted to TTC which is why I contacted the doctor in the first place. I guess they need bloods before they can give it to me but like you said I don't see the point of day 21 bloods
