Could She Be Pregnant?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I'm hoping being a man doesn't prevent me from asking for advice to calm me down. I'm hoping to ask for a woman's perspective on ttc if that's ok.

My girlfriend and I really want to have a baby together & this is our 4th or 5th cycle ttc (she stopped her pill mid cycle the first month so I'm not sure). I'm 36 and she's 37. We both have children from previous relationships. My daughter is 5, her son is 4 and her daughter is 3. Her only pregnancy symptom previously was occasional fatigue before a missed period.

I'm finding that early pregnancy and PMS symptoms can be very similar and each month that raises my hopes before disappointment. On ttc cycle 3, she had a lot of pregnancy symptoms and we were semi-convinced she was pregnant until menstruation started. She was very fatigued with very frequent visits to the toilet and changes to her boobs including tenderness, feeling firmer and soreness when she ran across a car park. She also had a headache one morning and possibly pink spotting around the usual time of implantation.

We had previously been tracking ovulation but this cycle we thought we would just go with the flow and DTD as often as we felt like. Based on the first day of her last period and her usual cycle, she's now 6-8 dpo. She's feeling very fatigued to the point where last night she came home from work at 7pm feeling fine and by 9pm wanted to go to sleep. She also wore a top in bed, which she never normally does, because she felt cold. This morning she randomly told me she thought she could smell smoke in my hair for a few seconds and she could do with someone washing her before getting her dressed. Lastly, sorry if this is TMI but she tasted a little metallic down there. As far as I remember I haven't known her to experience any of this 6-8 dpo before.

So my question is... what are our hopes for pregnancy this month? Am I finding symptoms looking for a bfp that won't occur? I know the saying that if you relax it will happen, but we can't shake the baby talk.

Apologies if this post is too long.

Thank you.

Welcome to the agony of the two week wait and frantic symptom spotting!

So many early pregnancy symptoms mimic normal cycle symptoms due to the rise and fall of hormones.

Hopefully it'll happen for you both soon. I've been trying a while and it doesn't really get any easier.

You need to relax and not symptom spot.

Try to enjoy the TTC journey, it will happen in due time but being overly stressed about symptoms isn't good for you or her.

Just focus on eating right, taking supplements to help boost your sperm etc and doing the deed at the right time every month (every 2 to 3 days is enough really).
