First period after miscarriage

Hi

I’m on what I think is my first period after my miscarriage. I’m now on day 7 and still bleeding. Is this normal? I’m generally not still bleeding like this on day 7 (today is another fresh red gush of blood - sorry if TMI).

Generally it’s been quite a heavy period, no clots actually and bright red. I thought it was tailing off yesterday, but then today happened.

Can anyone pls let me know what they think / their experience was?

Thanks so much

Sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage Flowers I hope you're doing ok. I don't have any experience of this yet but I went to the EPU yesterday for confirmation that my miscarriage was complete and the nurse warned me that my next period might be longer and heavier than usual. She it's completely normal and nothing to worry about

Thanks @Flopsy88 for your response. I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope you are ok.

I’m a bit up and down at the moment, and just want things to go back to normal. Thanks for the reassurance.

Thanks @BMG88 I'm coping much better than I thought I would. I also just want to get back to normal and start trying again! I'm still waiting for prenancy tests to go negative though, I'm so impatient. How long did it take for your period to arrive? X

@Flopsy88 I think I ovulated literally about 2 weeks after I got a negative pregnancy test and then 2 and a bit weeks after that I got my period.

I had a weird withdrawal bleed after my negative test which the doctor said was definitely not my period and happens sometimes when the pregnancy hormones drops.

This period has definitely been a lot more full on and lasted longer than mine did before the miscarriage.

Glad you are doing ok. Keep looking after yourself

Hi there, I'm very sorry for your loss.
I've unfortunately had a few miscarriages and the first period afterwards has been very heavy and lasted longer than usual. My cramping and bloating was worse than before as well, but things seemed to settle down again and the next again period is more normal. Try not to panic, but if you are concerned it is lasting a lot longer and there is a lot of blood loss, it might be good to check it out with your doctor x
