Leave that test in the bin!

Just a word of warning ladies - I used a clearblue early detection test last night 5 days before my period is due. Within 3 minutes the test was clearly negative however when I fished it out of the bin just to make sure 30 minutes later there was a line which has steadily gotten bluer and stronger overnight so now there is a thin obviously blue line. I’ve spent the night agonizing over whether it is in fact positive. So my advice to all your ladies who are as impatient and desperate to see a line as me, don’t take the test so early, on evening urine and definitely don’t fish it out of the bin later as it will make you second guess everything and spend a night torturing yourself as I just did! 😫

Leave that test in the bin!

Could it be an evap line?

Rockape1992 · 24/03/2021 10:17

Yeah that’s definitely what I think it is despite my heart telling me otherwise 😢 All unnecessary and should have left the bloody thing in the bin!

Have you tested again OP. As this is what I did and he is 7 now.

Feanorous · 24/03/2021 10:24

Test again to be sure :)

Rockape1992 · 24/03/2021 10:26

Not yet as have no tests in the house. Think I’ll wait for AF as I’m not sure I can face another negative test!

@LST do you mean your negative turned into a positive outside of the recommended time? Mine was definitely negative after 3 mins but now shows a very definite thin blue line 🙈

Yes it was negative in the time frame and I chucked it and went to bed. There was a faint line and I mean squint into the light faint, the next morning when I went for a wee. So I tested again 2 days later and it was positive in the time frame. I was testing before my period was due too
Rockape1992 · 24/03/2021 10:33

@LST hmmm now that’s thrown me a bit. Maybe I will test again in a couple of days if no AF in the meantime! This ttc is truly a rollercoaster ride

It certainly is! I hope you get the bfp you want op xxx

With both my pregnancies the initial pregnancy tests have been negative after 3 minutes but a faint line visible on getting them out of the bin.
I think that might be a true positive.

Pinpointer · 24/03/2021 10:41

Just want to say this has happened in both my pregnancies (and with clear blue), it’s been negative and I’ve chucked it came back for a nosey and it’s positive, retested in two days and definitely positive!

Rockape1992 · 24/03/2021 10:48

That all sounds very encouraging. I should also add I’ve been having pinky brown spotting for the past five days or so. Not unusual for me in the run up to AF, but I also had this in a previous pregnancy. Usually it gets heavier as the days go by but doesn’t seem to be changing much. God I just wish someone could tell me ASAP one way or the other so I could stop torturing myself! I was really convinced I was pregnant this month so was heartbroken when I saw the negative test and now I just don’t know what to think. With my first, I had none of this. Conceived first month and didn’t even test until I was a least a week late! Wish I could be that relaxed this time round!

Same here, tested a day or so before period was due and faint line appeared outside the timeframe.

DS is now 13 Smile

ForeverBubblegum · 24/03/2021 10:55

Sorry if this just messes your head up more, but both my positives started out that way, then I got 'proper' positives within the time a few days later.

Rockape1992 · 24/03/2021 11:06

Thanks everyone for your advice and support. Its lovely to hear all your positive stories. I’m desperately trying not to get carried away but the line is definitely blue rather than clear or grey as I thought evap lines usually were?

I've seen some shocking clear blue dodgy test results, there's one from not long ago called 'first time I've seen an evap' or something like that, which was a blue line but didn't turn out to be positive.

best of luck OP, hope it works out well for you x

@Rockape1992 I was just coming on here to say that, even though I had read your warning and knew what happened with yours, I have just done the exact same thing with the same result - but now based on these responses, I’m not sure what to think! Fingers crossed that for both of us it turns out to be bfp in a few days!

Springb0ks · 24/03/2021 16:29

I'm so sorry but yours looks exactly like mine did and mine was an evap line. Same scenario- left it for a few hours and there was a line there. I can post a photo of it if you'd like to compare?
