Other reason for faint positives?

I had faint positives around Christmas then possibly again in feb (although most were cb so just in case I won't count those) and again now.

Currently 12dpo and bled pink red pink red pink and so on for 3 and a bit days since 7dpo (stopped now). Had negative tests when the bleeding started (got excited thinking it was implantation even though I knew it wouldn't show up so early 🙈) but then since 9dpo I've been getting super fain positives on frer and Ic strips. (I can see them but very difficult to see on a photo - photos look more like shadows)

I'm still breastfeeding my 12 month old (so not much as she is eating now -just for naps) which could explain my short lp? I'm pretty sure that I'm not pregnant (not sticky at least) as still so fain but I do feel pregnant and nauseous like with my first.

I'm going to call my dr but expecting to be fobbed off.

Is there anything else that can cause faint positive tests other than pregnancy? I've looked into higher hcg levels while breastfeeding and apparently that isn't true. Just wondering if there's anything I should be asking to get checked as it's really getting me down not knowing what is going on with my body :(

Thank you 💕

Anyone? 🙈

The pregnancy tests only test for hcg. I'm not aware of anything other than pregnancy that would produce hcg.

I was getting g faint positives in feb as well and they went negative (but didn't bleed) as I had a blood test which came back negative so wondered if something else could cause it as I'm so fed up of faint lines but not being pregnant :(

Perhaps your previous faint positives were chemical pregnancies?

I didn’t think you could get a positive, faint or not, without being pregnant. Unless perhaps there is something wrong with the tests or Tempe way you’re using them. Are you reading them within the time limit?

Spillanelle · 24/03/2021 19:49

That should say - ‘the way you’re using them’

oohmamama · 24/03/2021 19:50

There can be other things which cause elevated HCG but they are pretty rare.

firsttimemummy321 · 24/03/2021 20:24

Thank you. I did think that but didn't bleed and were fainter than my previous chemical.

Yes done as per the instructions and read within the time limit

I had a blood test that was negative but after the tests had gone negative. It's just confusing me. This cycle I bled at 7dpo til 10dpo which was odd as well 🙈

When you say you didn’t bleed, do you mean you didn’t bleed for a while after the negative tests, or that you haven’t had a period since you had the faint positives in Feb?

firsttimemummy321 · 24/03/2021 20:45

I haven't bled at all until now at 7dpo-10dpo

Bleed/period anything

Sorry, I’m really confused, how can you know that you’re 7DPO if you haven’t had a period since February?

If you’re actually 7-10DPO and getting faint positives then I think the most likely reason is because you’re pregnant.

If you’re saying that you haven't had any period since Feb and are getting faint positives you could be further along. I’d speak to the GP in that instance to ask for another blood test.

Spillanelle · 24/03/2021 21:51

Sorry, ignore me, getting dates confused. It’s been a long week! Don’t know why I didn’t think you couldn’t be 7DPO if your last period was end Feb. I feel like February was months ago for some reason 😂

7-10DPO is still really early to get proper strong positive lines. I think you need to wait a few more days and test again.

firsttimemummy321 · 24/03/2021 21:55

I've not bled only the last few days. I know how many dpo as I had a positive opk and temp rise :)

Hopefully you will have a clearer picture either way in a few days. Good luck OP, I know how stressful this period of waiting can be, and hope you get the result you’re wanting.
