BBT and OPK confusion!!

Hiya ladies, I'm really confused about my chart this month. Could somebody take a look and give me their thoughts?

Basically I had a temp shift on CD15
indicating ovulation was on CD14, but I didn't get a positive OPK until CD16.
I was testing multiple times a day from CD12 so I don't think I missed a surge.

Do you think my temps are wrong or is it possible to ovulate a whole two days before getting a positive OPK?!

Hey I noticed this on my last 2 cycles, my temp rose before a got a positive OPK. It's really strange because when you ovulate the follicle that released the egg, then turns into the corpus luteum which produces progesterone, causing an increase in temperature. So it's not supposed to be possible to have a rise in temp before ovulation. However clearly our bodies do not work like textbook.

You wouldn't get an LH surge after ovulation so I would trust the OPK but you need to keep testing because you can get multiple surges before ovulation actually happens. Fertility Friend also goes off the OPK reading. I can't determine if you've ovulated yet as some of your temps are similar to earlier in your cycle.

Thank you.
Yeah it is strange. I think perhaps my temps on CD14/15 were wrong. Time will tell I suppose. I'm trying to lengthen my luteal phase so just really wanted to pin point when I ovulated. Ah well!

Have you done anymore OPKs? The thing that is confusing is your temp on CD11 is high, so FF won't think that your recent temps are high compared to earlier in your cycle. What were your temps like in your previous luteal phase? Is 36.8 high for you?

Emmyanddreams · 22/03/2021 11:45

I do get the odd high temp pre ovulation. In my luteal phase 36.8 is high for me but then I sometimes creep up to 37.

Here's my chart from last month, and back in September.

I don't think CD14 was your ovulation as you shouldn't be able to have LH surges after OD. Definitely something funny going on with this chart! I'm not sure I'm 100% on the temp shift either with the lack of FP temps.

Yeah it doesn't look great does it. Thanks for your opinion.
I suppose I just need to wait and see. Over a year of going through the 2ww, I should be used to it by now! Confused

@Emmyanddreams have you started investigations?

Emmyanddreams · 22/03/2021 14:21

Not yet. I have an almost 3 year old and she took 9 months to conceive.
I spoke my gp at the beginning of the year as I was getting concerned but she basically said as I've already had a child it's very likely I will conceive. If it gets to 18 months of trying then to go back and they will start testing. I feel this isn't normal to be honest but just going with it for now.
