Has anyone had a hysterosalpingogram?

Hey!

The question's in the title really... Has any of you lovely ladies had a hysterosalpingogram(HSG). I have been referred as I have been ttc for a while now. I have pcos and the docs wanted to check my tubes aren't blocked. Has anyone had this done and conceived after? I've heard providing your tubes aren't actually blocked that a hcg test can actually help with conception??... is this true?

I had one when TTC. I took painkillers beforehand. It ‘smarted’ when they went through my cervix (doctor said it was because it nothing much had been in or out of there before!). I did cramp for a couple of days afterwards, I had painkillers and a wheat bag which helped. I didn’t get pregnant from it but we had male factors as well.

Good luck with it all, hope it happens for you soon.

I have PCOS too and I’ve had one, which revealed no blocked tubes. It didn’t make me conceive, although I did eventually with the help of Clomid, but I heard the same thing. Not sure if there’s much evidence behind that. Good luck, and don’t read too many horror stories about the procedure, it wasn’t that bad.

Had one many years ago, was not painful. Had a day off to recover From GA. Didn’t get pregnant straight after but was about a year later after clomid.it was fine and knowing my tubes were clear made me feel a lot more hopeful.

I've had two, wasn't too bad having them though I got some awful cramps after the first one. I did conceive the cycle after the first one (after 2 years of trying) but not the second - hard to tell whether it made any difference.

I had one and conceived that cycle and it turned out to be my only successful pregnancy out of 5 so far. I'd tried for 11 cycles and got pregnant prior to it but unfortunately was a mmc. I obviously don't know if it really had any impact at all or was coincidence but I believe it did.
Very very early pregnant now so will see. Good luck with it all, I found the procedure itself fine, bit of cramping but not too bad. I did feel a bit faint after it but think that was more to do with wandering around London in a heatwave.

I had one after an ectopic pregnancy. It confirmed my tubes were clear but I didn't conceive again for a couple of years. When I did conceive again it was successful, though

Thanks ladies. Its put my mind at ease. I guess the main thing is that i have the procedure done and my tubes are clear. I think just having the procedure done will clear a mental block if that makes sense. Ive gotten myself so stressed out with ttc and each cycle it gets worse. Im convinced theres something wrong with me! I have pcos but through diet and alot of weightloss i have managed to get my periods on track every 30 days which is a good thing. Ive got to try chill out but its not easy!
