Your thoughts/experience on early pregnancy pain

Some of you may have seen my post last week -I got a BFP a week ago and have been feeling pretty pregnant since (sore boobs, v. constipated , a bit nauseous). Now 5 weeks pregnant. But I also have had pain a lot of the time for the last 10 days. I went to the Dr and was referred to hosp for suspected ectopic. Had the blood tests and levels were good - 300 to 800 in 48 hours. So they've now booked me for a 6 week scan (next week) to double-check not ectopic.
Pain is mostly on right side (though not exclusively). Generally like not-too-sore period pains with some sharper pains occasionally. I've had no bleeding.
We've been trying for a year (for #2) so really hopeful this works out. Had a caesarean last time - had read the scar tissue stretching can cause pain???
Anyway, just wondered if anyone had had similar experiences or thoughts - do you think I'm likely to miscarry?
Not feeling brave enough to actually post this on Pregnancy or Ante-natal yet (too superstitious or something!)

I had a C section with my son and then when I was pregnant the second time had all sort of funny pains, sometimes sharp stabbing pains, I was worried too but from what I can remember they did disappear after a while, although I still have them now and again and I'm not pregnant, so perhaps it does have something to do with scar tissue. You are doing the best thing having a scan, try not to worry in the meantime, I know its hard not too. By the way we are trying for no3!

good luck with the scan. with both my pregnancies I had stabbing period-like pains early on and I was absolutely terrified. It was nothing to worry about , just a bit of stretching/settling down.

I had exactly the same stabbing pains with my first pregnancy. In fact my pains were so bad that I had to have an emergency laparoscopy to see if it was an ectopic pregnancy. The laparoscopy found out that I had endometriosis, which was causing the pains. So, this may be what you have got. The pains went on for the the first month or so and then stopped, and I had no other problems in the pregnancy. Hope it all goes well for you and try not to worry about it.

I had cramping with my first pg - apparently its your ovaries making hormones to support your pregnancy. I didn't have them with my second pregnancy. They should go fairly soon and by 10 weeks your placenta takes over. Hope all goes well for you.
