Hi ladies,
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in November 2020. I have been trying to conceive my third child for around 6 months before that so went for preliminary blood tests to confirm ovulation - which was confirmed.
GP also tested my thyroid and that's when it was picked up. In hindsight, I did have some symptoms which have improved on medication. I have been on levo since then with an increase to 75mcg at which point my tsh was 0.27 and t4 was 22.1. Endocrinologist suggested I reduce dose at the weekends to 50mcg and 75mcg during the week - I started this dose nearly a month ago. He wanted to bring my tsh up a little but knows I'm trying to conceive and that it should be kept below 2.
My periods have always been regular but I'm now on cycle day 44 with no sign of it! I've taken two pregnancy tests but both have come back negative. I feel I've been having all my usual PMS symptoms - I've been emotional, moody and have had cramps on and off for the last week or so. I have had a pretty bad chest infection for the last while and have been on two sets of antibiotics in the last 6-7 weeks so I know this wouldn't have helped matters. I was coughing so much that a I damaged my rib muscles so that set me back too.
Is it just a case of needing my thyroid medication to settle a bit more? Maybe the lower tsh reading pushed my body to go the other way a little?
I wonder if anyone else has experienced something similar? It's just very frustrating when I've been really working on trying to get everything levelled out and now I'm missing my period! I'm dying for it to come now!!
