Hi,
I have a 9 month old son. Me and my partner are sort of trying for another. I say sort of, as we're not bothered when I become pregnant but we would both love another child, if it happens next week, or if it happens in 3 years, but we would like to keep an eye on the situation and regularly test. My problem is, ever since I've had my son, my cycle has been all over, bleeding for weeks at a time with only a matter of a few days of no bleeding inbetween. I was ovulating yesterday, so we had unprotected sex. Now at some point today, I have bled slightly. The patch in my underwear is about the size of a 2 pence piece. Could this be my period coming yet again?! I thought it couldn't be as it's such little blood and my bleeding normally starts suddenly out of nowhere, a lot more than that. Anyone have any advice on what our chances would be to get pregnant now due to the slight bleeding?! Does this mean it's not going to happen this cycle? Is this normal as I never had any bleeding at all with my son from when we had unprotected sex to when I gave birth! Thank you.

You can get implantation bleeding or bleeding when pregnant or it could be a really light period.

The sperm and egg would only just be getting it on if you were ovulated yesterday. Then it’s 5 days to develop into a blastocyst and start implanting.

I would see your GP about the irregular bleeding.

Bleeding for weeks at a time doesn’t sound great.. I’d get an appointment with your GP to talk about this, just in case it stops you from conceiving..

Hi everyone- I've been to the GP about the bleeding and all they've said is that it can take up to a year for the bleeding to become regular again- I've been on 2 courses of tablets to stop the bleeding both of which evidently haven't worked. I'm still having pink coloured spotting today- very stringy?!

It sounds like it’s hormonal to me OP

ellieellie44 · 17/03/2021 20:03

@Oodilallygolly would it be normal for light cramping to come slog with a hormonal bleed? 100% not period type cramping though☹️this is the one I've had recently !

Some women have a little bleeding with ovulation OP. That might be the case here if you have fertile cervical fluid. If you're breastfeeding though that can make your cycle very erratic / non-ovulatory. I think in your situation I would just keep a note of when you see fertile signs and do a test about 18 days later if you haven't had a period by then.

Are you tracking ovulation with opks and/or temping? Just wondering how you know you ovulated yesterday?
Are you up to date with your smears? Could be some cervical erosion especially as it was after sex. I'd push for more investigation into this.
