Hi ladies

So some background first. Have been on the combined pill (gedarel) for the last 10 years but decided to come off it as my partner and I would like to start a family soon. Took my last pill on 24th Dec, had a withdrawal bleed from 28th-30th Dec. Took quite a while for my first “proper” period to come, even had bloods done to check I wasn’t pregnant. Bled from 10th-12th Feb. Started to track my BBT and used OPKs on that cycle. According to OPKs ov’d around CD 13/14 but according to BBT ov’d on CD 21. Cycle lasted bang on 30 days and I started to bleed again on 12th March. So currently on CD 3.

I have a few questions...

I can’t remember what my cycles were like before being on the pill in terms of length etc. But do you think 3 months is enough time to have balanced back out and have returned to fertility? In other words, would be ok to start trying this cycle?

What’s more trustworthy for tracking ovulation - BBT or OPKs?

My partner is having to work away from 21st March and I likely won’t see him again until the end of May. If we DTD right before he leaves, CD 9 and 10, what do you reckon the chances of me catching are? If my OPKs are right, I’d be about 4-5 days off ovulation at that point but if my BBT is right then we’ll likely miss my fertile window, right?

Very new to all of this so forgive my ignorance!! Any advice much appreciated!

OPKs don't confirm ovulation whereas bbt will.
OPKs tell you when you are have a LH surge and then tend to ovulate 12-48 hours after this. You can have several LH surges where your body tries to ovulate but doesn't. BBT is more accurate in confirming but you have to test the same time every day prior to moving. with 2 decimal place thermometer after at least 3hrs tested sleep. . If you use fertility friend it will confirm ovulation with 3 temp rises post ovulation.

Gotcha. So looking at my last cycle it’s likely I did ovulate on CD 21 as after this my temp spiked and stayed high until my period. So CD9 and 10 would be too early 🤦🏻‍♀️
