Can’t work out when (or if) I ovulated

Hi all,

After a couple of false positives on clearblue advanced digitals earlier this month, I got what I think was a genuine static smiley on Friday evening at cd13 after high on Friday morning (confirmed by opks on Saturday as well as ewcm and increased resting heart rate). We dtd yesterday around midday and this morning.

However, yesterday my rhr dropped by 1 bpm and it’s done the same this morning, which makes me wonder if I just got the LH surge but didn’t ovulate in the end? My Ovia app also seems to think my fertile window ended yesterday, and that our chances of conception were higher on Thursday before I even got my peak. I do take my temperature in the mornings before I get out of bed but can’t face setting an alarm to do it, so the timing does vary (usually within about an hour) but I haven’t got a rise yet.

So basically I’m wondering which evidence is most reliable and whether we have dtd at the right time or too late for this month? I did have a health scare earlier in the month, which turned out to be fine, but I wonder if the stress affected ovulation. Found the 2ww very difficult last time so don’t want to build my hopes up this month if the chances of conceiving are actually very low! Any advice much appreciated!

Hi @ottie27, the only real confirmation of ovulation alongside opks is your bbt. Rhr, while it can correlate with all the other signs, can't be relied on as an indicator. If you got your static smiley Friday and then a positive opk Saturday, it may be a case you're only ovulating today. I always find that I get a static 48 hours before ovulation, and a positive opk the day before. A temp rise tomorrow should tell you if you've ovulated today 😊

Thanks so much for this @Fifi1086 - that’s helpful to know! Unfortunately I didn’t get a temp rise this morning, despite pretty much all the other signs of ovulation (even thought I felt a bit of ovulation pain yesterday evening) but I read somewhere that it doesn’t happen immediately for all women so I’m still hopeful! Either that or I’m not temping reliably enough... or I didn’t actually ovulate at all!

DP says I’m tracking too many things and just see what happens in a couple of weeks - clearly that is never going to be my mindset!
