Spotting before ovulation - any experience?

Bit of a TMI question if anyone can answer...

I've had lots of EWCM today with a fair amount of brown spotting in it and some light red spotting separately too. I thought spotting only happened after ovulation but some things I've seen online say it could be due to a drop on oestrogen (I always thought it was just due to the egg erupting) so I guess there's a chance it could happen before.

I've def not ovulated yet in any case as LH hasn't peaked yet and BBT isn't showing a rise yet. My LH is showing as high though so I imagine I'll peak soon.

Has anyone got any experience of this? Thanks in advance ☺️

Hi OP yes I’ve experienced this. Sometimes I experience light spotting as soon as a couple of days after af finishes and again around ovulation time. I’ve been using opk’s and they seem to confirm I’m ovulating so not sure what’s causing it. Had lots of tests and checks and it appears to be nothing sinister. According to my ob/gyn some woman just spot more than others and it can be normal for them. I’ve also had ewcm before I would expect to be ovulating so think it can occur at different times of your cycle. If it helps, I had this before when I conceived my DS1 and I’m having it again now I’m ttc DC2. Best of luck to you xx

Thank you @Rockape1992 that's really reassuring to hear! I think I might just spot at random times too, I wonder if at this point in the cycle it is the oestrogen levels changing that causes it. Guess we'll never know! Thanks for replying and best of luck to you too xxx
